I honestly had no idea what I was doing, but god did I get lucky when I sold more than 1/2 my portfolio at the start of august and put it into my online savings. Made $75 the 1st month. That is like stealing in this market.

You lost money due to inflation

Losing 25 to 50% would have been the better option? I will buy back when the time is right

Didn't say that, just pointing out that having money in savings right now isn't great either.

I sold a ton in May and have been waiting to get back in since, which I think is soon, next week or two.

It depends on when you need the money.  If it's within the next year, stay out.  Longer term, put some back.

All I know for sure is that if Trump had won the last election, with everything that's going on now (inflation, markets cratering, supply chain disruptions, etc) the media would be screaming bloody murder 24/7

Oh easy.  It is night and day how the media covers Biden vs how they covered Trump.  You have to be really blind to not see it.  Liberals see it though.  They just pretend lile they don't know what we are talking about.

They throw Biden softballs daily and hr cant even make contact.

Trump was president under All Madden mode.

They put rookie mode on fot Biden and he still can't win.

Just checked my retirement, down 21% YTD. The amount of money that it showed that % represented put a pit in my stomach.

What can you do? I throw $$ at it every 2 weeks regardless. Need a republican back in office asap tho.

Me too. I'm down 17.5%. My company stock is down about $150 a share. And it was never a volatile stock in the least the past 15 years or so.  But I'm not selling. It will come back after a republican takes over.

Hey, I know how it feels to vote for your own demise. But at least when I did it it wasn’t because of feelings. When Guilliani ran for mayor we went all out to get him in. I personally did voter registration for him. Then when it came contract time he stuck it to us. That’s why most NYPD cops from that era hate him.  Google NYPD 00336 and you’ll see what I’m talking about. But you, idiot, voted for a guy that said he was going to wreck the economy. If you couldn’t see it shame on you.  At least I was lied to.

It's only logical to vote for people who you think know how to run the country in a conservative matter. :dunno:

When democrats occupied the White House, stocks averaged about 9.0% per year compared to 7.4% under republicans

Well, you don’t vote for the guy who knew what he was doing and kicking ass either. Smart move. So you voted against your own prosperity.  Whatever gets you through the night.  Moron.

I have no doubt that the markets would have done what they did with trump in office.  If you don't get that, you don't understand finance.  You're an uneducated security guard.  Let charles Schwab handle your savings account

Really? I had a clue things would nosedive when he said he would get rid of fossil fuels. Then on day one he put it in motion. So I got at least part of the equation right. What parts did you get right? Looks like none.

Seriously. Biden undoes everything Trump did right off the bat, then does the exact opposite of Trump the rest of the way but gutterdope is confident it would have been the same. Confidence + stupidity is a dangerous combo. I bet his wife calls the shots with the money.

He made the US energy dependant all by himself. He pushed and executed massive spending during a recession. I don't care about other stupid leaders in other countries. We have our own idiot to remove from office.

Not to mention his fear mongering about everything.

Let me help you idiots here, what we're dealing with is the result of bad monetary policy for the last 15 years, unsustainably low rates, free money, a global pandemic, and then the shock when everyone emerges from it flush with cash and a worldwide economy unable to handle it.  There is nothing Trump could have or would have done, and putting a republican in the WH is no guarantee that anything will be fixed anytime soon.

But yeah, OMB bad, orange man good.

Wow. Does this guy pay attention to anything? He just signed another massive spending bill after Manchin caved. And he has promised to pay off student loans. You’re unbelievably ignorant.

Pay off student loans.

The inflation reduction act raises taxes, it's not a spending bill, it's actually neutral.

Forgiving student loans isn't spending either.

I don't have a crystal ball, so I don't know if the economy would be in the same shape it's in today if Trump had won.

I only stated that 'if' Trump was still president, & 'if' the nation was in the same condition it's in today, the media would be much more outspoken about it.

Yeah but it's paying itself.  Semantics.

Either way it's not much compared to the trillions spent during covid.
