You don't need to worry about bacteria for dogs, their digestive tract isn't long enough that they are susceptible to e coli, salmonella, etc.  Raw meat is fine.

Also, no spices for dogs.   The only time you'd want to add salt to a dog's diet is if they were on a completely raw meat diet and even then you'd be better off using a supplement.  Otherwise they get plenty of salt from their normal dog food.  No pepper.  No onion.  Just stay away from all spices.

I know I don’t need to cook it but I still like to. Makes me feel better about giving them their steaks. Plus, I’m cooking steaks for myself so it doesn’t take long to throw them on the grill for less than 5 minutes

Warm meat intrigues me because I can't help but think it plays to their carnivore nature and a fresh kill.  I know any dog prefers any kind of meat to regular dog food.  I imagine:

warm raw > raw > cooked meat > dog food

Dogs aren't suited for spicy food, they don't like it, it can irritate their digestive system, some are harmful and some out right dangerous.  An occasional salted and peppered steak isn't going to hurt then at all, but, I can't help think they are probably wondering what the hell that human just put on that perfectly good meat.

My catahoula can be kinda picky with his food. My red lab? Not so much. If I point to a rock she’d eat the damn thing lol. That being said, my catahoula ate all the meat of his steak and then went to town on gnawing on the bone. He at that within minutes whereas my lab likes to carry hers around to show it off before eating it. Had problems with my catahoula when he was younger and teething. Focker would literally chew up ANYTHING I gave him. Gave him one of those indestructible tire chew toys. He ATE the damn thing then threw it up 😅 Gave him ram horns they would sell at petco. Those lasted a little longer. But if he didn’t have anything to chew on then he was chewing up the carpet. Would put him in the kennel when I’d leave for work and there be less than half an inch between the plastic pad on the kennel and the front bar. So he had access to the floor and I’d come home to find he had chewed out a line in the carpet of my apt. He’s not like that anymore so I never have to kennel them

I like to at least grill it a few minutes and give them a med rare steak. I salt and pepper them slightly as well. I just don’t tenderize and marinate them & only cook them 2 minutes per side. Enough to cook it and kill any bacteria.

I don’t understand retards like Hack and Sh1thead here trying to talk Sh1t over something it’s obvious they have NO clue about nor have they ever had a dog themselves. They B1tch just to B1tch and that tells you ALL you need to know about their character: they’re trash 🗑️

I'm not talking sh1t, I already said I don't care what you do to your dogs, but others might think it's fine to cook a bone in ribeye and give it to their dog, but it's dangerous to do so, and I even shared a link to an article explaining why.  And yes I have owned dogs longer than you.

But you can keep doing it, please ignore me.  Next time season it with garlic and onion powder too.  Follow it up with chocolate cake.

Right.

Can be choking hazard, or can block intestines.  Of the hundreds of times my retrievers have eaten a cooked bone or something else they got their hands on they always just throw it up.  Never had one die once.

Catahoulas are nice looking dogs.  Glad you got the puppy out of him.

Give us an update when you can. Good luck!

I am sitting at the airport now, all checked in all cleared through luggage and security and COVID nonsense, at the boarding gate ... waiting. That should be it. If I go quite for a good 24 hours, take that as a good sign. 👍

Six people including an elderly MiL and three kids. Thanks for asking.

My boy turns 11 this year. Still pretty spry for his age and loves to play fetch still. I can see him slowing down cause it takes him a minute to get up and he tends to spend most of the day laying on one of his many pet beds

For my dog? No. I usually let the vet recommend stuff. Completely different biology than humans so I leave that up to them

Wishing you the very best V. Always respected the fact that you saw that your life sucked and instead of just wallowing, you did something about it and made a great life for yourself.

I'm proud of you. I hope your years in America are healthy and fulfilling and most of all, happy.

You might ask the vet next time. While you're right about the biology. Joints muscles and bones are all about the same with most mammals.

Of course, it would be far easier to prescribe a solution if you were nice enough to post a picture of your dog. 💙🐾

Hopefully it works. But that’s one that my combined 3 diff photos into one. That’s both my catahoula (Chevy) and my red lab (Ellie). Plan on getting a red golden retriever puppy next Christmas since my catahoula will be 11 going on 12 and their lifespan is usually 10-13 years

Aye. Twice now everything I worked for all my life turned to sh*t and I've had to start over. I wallowed a lot less the second time than the first but I guess that part will not fully be resolved until I actually gain employment and get my family out of my sister's house.

the technology that allows me to quickly check weather, stocks, low rent message boards, my fantasy teams, e-mail, texts with friends and family, etc etc.

i've always found it odd that anyone would resort to "you post here instead of _____!" as any sort of legit insult.

in before the 'in my day, we focused completely on our work" :  it's no different than standing around the water cooler or box of donuts at the police station and shooting the shiit.

Woke up with an early Xmas present...the wife is pregnant with #2!  Obviously very early in the pregnancy, so we had to keep it secret today at the Xmas party with my side of the family.  Damn!  We have a 4 year old, it will be hard to envision a second child at 43.  Oh well, the more the merrier!

Just a follow up to this.  The original pregnancy didn't make it.  The wife was very upset about losing the child, but God works in mysterious ways.  A few months later, we found out she was pregnant again!

Everett Andre was born this morning at 9:16am!!  Both he and mom are doing fantastic!  7lb, 15oz and 20in long!

I know, I know.....rats ass. :P

🎅Left Florida yesterday and drove to Fredericksburg VA. Departed VA this morning at 430am and arrived in MA around 4 PM. Wife and poor dog are wiped out. Having Chinese tonight at my #1 sons house with his lovely fiancé. They’re doing Chinese for me because Chinese in Florida sucks donkey d1ck. Christmas at my MIL tomorrow with entire family.I love Florida but the food up here is so much better and of course we miss our family . Going to grab a North Shore beef before we head back. No beeferies at all outside this area. Anyways after dinner I’m going to sit down to watch a Christmas movie with the luckiest girl in the world.

Merry Christmas to all , even little squissy. 🎅 🎄
