I said it was a guess. My perception is that most shooters are male and most of them are Caucasian, but my perception could be wrong. If someone wishes to provide the actual stats it would be appreciated.

You need more context when you answer.    Around here, you better make sure you include the gang shootings.  Other times people might be just referring to the typical shoot/church mass shooter, and there you are more correct and it's 53% or so white.   Either way, i'd guess white people still dominate the numbers because, well, there's more of us.   But the ratios and %/population differs depending on context of person asking.

Depends on the illness.  I posted a Yale article yesterday that discussed an alarming rate of mood and anxiety disorders, along with suicidal thoughts.  I would think those all correlate to increased propensity for violence.

Have you read the book/study that looked at all the mass shooters? Mental illness isn't even a top 5 commonality they share, according to people who comb the data. 

Most of the time, even that correlates to self harm and suicide, which is also on the rise. 

To be fair, again we need to be clear and specific what we are talking about.  People who do these things are not mentally well, but that is not the same as saying they have a mental illness and it doesn't account for our poor system and maybe there not being a diagnosis yet because they aren't seen.
