Apple was only brought up because Strike said he didn’t support companies producing stuff with child labor or in third world countries.  I guess if he doesn’t use Apple products that’s actually one part of his life where he’s not a hypocrite.

And just a reminder, this was part of the reason why Maybelline and Nike were brought up.  Peefoam was literally asking.

 

I have no idea what that word salad of a first sentence means, but the large session beer brands like BL are absolutely selling an image, and it is precisely because there isn't a lot of product-related differentiation with competitive offerings, which by the way makes the boycott easier.  Think of most beer commercials, they have clydesdales or frogs or people sitting around the campfire, they aren't talking about fermentation temperatures for lager yeast.

Nike does sell an image to some extent, but the situation is different, and if you can't see that, that's on you.  They sell separate products for men and women.  Men don't associate themselves with women's yoga pants, so I can't see them overly caring.  Plus the male golf demographic is different than the male piss beer demographic.  That being said, I'd be interested to see what happens if Nike ran an ad campaign with some trans male equivalent of Mulvaney, and if discussion picked up steam on social media.  Because I don't think there is all that much differentiation/barrier to change for a guy to switch to a different brand golf shirt, much like BL.

And yet, I thought part of the argument against trannies (particularly M to F ones) was they’re “trying to erase women.”  If that were the case then people should be more upset when products marketed towards women are using trannies in their advertisements.

But like Gutter said, with which you seem to agree, the moral of the story is the Bud Light boycott isn’t about putting an end to the trans religion or whatever buzzword people like to use, it’s just because they don’t like trannies being affiliated with stuff they use.

I only patronize 5 of those companies to begin with and for the Hotel chains infrequently at that.  As for companies the rest of those companies own, who knows.  They may have substantial holdings in  or wholly own companies I do business with.

 

Were I a boycotter the one which would cause me some inconveniencve would be Home Depot though I could switch to Lowes or Ace as both are conveniently located near me.  I like home Depot and know their store better than their manager does.  i am sure I could learn Lowes in a short time as I do use it occassionally. (They seem to have algecide in stock when Home Depot does not.

Nearby reservoir is still overfull from heavy spring/early summer rains and heavy run off.  The run off seems to have caused an algea bloom.  Too many homeowners over fertilizing their lawns and it all flows in.  The conditions have suppressed walleye and trout fishing, though the walleye bit through the spawn.  Lately I have been kayaking up the feeder creek just enjoying the turtles out sunning on the logs and throwing top water stuff up next to the structure.  With the high water there are lots of trees and shrubs now in the water which use to be high and dry.  The bass seem active in those tangles and in the sahdows and light caused by all the newly submerged structure.

 

I saw a guy fly fishing today.  The cottonwoods here are still producing like crazy and there is so much cotton on the surface I can't believe he is going to get any action.  I did not see one fish jump all day.  They seem immune to the goings on on the surface.

I am.  A bit of aluminum foil, some olive oil, salt, dill and parsley over hot hickory coals I set to smother as soon as I put it on so it smokes for maybe ten minutes in high heat as the coals extinguish.

I much prefer walleye.  Maybe on tommorows paddle I will troll out two lines with some diving Rapala shads and see if I can find the depth they are at.  I am not one for imagining for fish so once they leave the spawning beds it is a guessing game for me though generally they are around 15 feet down.

Walleye are great.  We catch a lot of walleye while bass fishing in our river systems.  I have fishing tonight.  We run a weeknight tournament on one of our local lakes.  It's a lot of fun.

Your first sentence shows a lack of understanding of logic and drawing a logical conclusion.  Baker Boy pointed out many situations where your false conclusion is incorrect.

Nike selling yoga pants to trans women does not erase women; where do you get these conclusions from?

Your last paragraph has been my position all along.  I don't drink BL or its competitors so I have no personal skin in the game; my comments have been limited to the marketing gaffe and not understanding what they are actually selling (an image, not a beer).

Bass fishing is fun.  A one pound bass will give more fight than a four pound walleye.  When you can get them to hit on the surface they are lots of fun.  To me bass fishing is really hunting, you figure out where the prey is laying in ambush off of structure and you hunt them up, sort of similar to river fishing for trout, find the structure and the eddies and hunt them up.

I love everything about bass fishing.  I've always loved fishing in general but I got really serious into about 10 years ago.  I started going on more trips, bought a kayak, started fishing in tournaments and even read some books.  At work I listen to fishing podcasts all day.  I really enjoy learning as much as I can about them.

Yeah I crimp all my barbs.  I love Walleye, but we don't have any out in NJ.

If it doesn't storm later my son and I will ride our bikes down to the local pond.  Not many people know about it.  There is a 14 pound bass that lives in there, we caught him 3 times.  Last time was 2 years ago so maybe he's dead now.  I got a new hula popper I want to try out.

I caught a big perch a couple weeks ago while bass fishing.  I was up at La Crosse fishing the Mississippi River.  The Upper Mississippi River is amazing.

I grew up on a lake.  My grandfather took me out often as a young boy.  Opening day every spring was spent with him on Lake Owen in norther Wisconsin.  One morning i remember in particular it was cold, ice on the minnow bucket cold.  We were drifting over some walleye spawning beds.  He kept catching and i did not.  i asked him why.  He told me "Boy, you have to learn to hold your mouth right."  Turns out that advice was applicable to many things in life.

I was suppose to fish a kayak tournament in northern WI next week but had to back out because of a family reunion.  I was not happy.  The tourney allows fishing on any lake within 50 miles of Minocqua.  I had been studying lakes for months before I found out I had the date wrong and was the same as the reunion.  Northern WI is great for fishing.
