And trans kids aren't looking for attention.  If you know any trans kids, they are usually bullied.  Due to acceptance, they are bullied less and just kinda ignored now, which is progress.  But they shouldn't be told they are wrong or bad or forced to live a certain way that is emotionally damaging.

If we can agree that trans is a mental disorder, that is a start.   

Some trans kids aren't looking for attention, they have true gender dysphoria.  I agree with everything you said about them.

Some play the victimization card - victimization is tied to narcissism and other pathologies.

Trans folks are some combination of the three.  I truly sympathize with the people with gender dysphoria, and I'm open to discussions of solution options.  I don't know enough to say that surgery and/or hormones is the right solution, as it seems a bit like telling a person who thinks they should be blind that they should throw acid on their eyes.  But I'm open to the discussion.

I believe that other disorders like eating disorders have gone through similar vectors, and those in particular share the common trait of being unhappy in your physical body and looking for ways to improve it.

As somebody with a clinical psychologist (PhD) in my family, I can tell you this is a bit of a misunderstanding. Psychiatrists are medical doctors who can prescribe medicine. Psychologists cannot. Most of the science they study is the same though. Psychiatrists often refer patients to psychologists for therapy, and vice versa if the psychologist believes the patient might need medication.

I think people are people.  I remember there were some teachers, back in the 80's, that were like this.  We mostly though of them as "cook's" and laughed at them.  But we were socialized, we went outside, we interacted with adults and other kids in a different way.  We developed a bullsh!t muscle,  we were less naive and manipulating us was a little more challenging.

I do understand that liberals dominate academia, and there is a rot that accompanies them.  

I feel fortunate that at least in our locale we did not face this, my kids are mostly done with their academics, but if I were to get a hint of indoctrination we would step up and counter it emphatically.  We cannot stop the religion of liberalism infecting the schools, but we can control our kids.
