jerryskids 6,553 Posted July 11, 2023 Going on today and tomorrow. If you see anything interesting post it here. Roomba's are on sale, we've been talking about getting one. Anyone have one? MTSkiBum 1,620 Posted July 11, 2023 I did not get anything during prime day last year and so far this year it looks equally disappointing. WhiteWonder 2,675 Posted July 11, 2023 by and large, prime day is a scam (jmho). Sometimes you can find a good deal but a lot of the time, the prices seem to have been marked up and then "put on sale" to make you think you're getting an amazing deal. I trust you guys on the Jackery and knowing its a good deal. I've seen lots of people use those in their conversion vans. One of my "probably wont ever happen goals" is to convert a Ford Transit van (bed, small kitchen, work station, toilet, outdoor shower, solar panels on the roof, etc)... like the tiny house stuff but not to actually live in. Just to be nomadic for shorter periods of time and travel to some cool places and hike, camp, golf, etc.

I empty it every morning. It gets stuck sometimes if I leave a chair out, or on a dog toy. I replace the hepa filter every few months, did the beater brush once after a year, this other thing that scoops debris once. Parts are cheap.

If you're super anal about seeing any little bit of pet hair, I guess... but it feels like just running a real vacuum twice a week does more. I can hit angles and crevices that I just imagine a robot can't manage. I know they are not getting up on couches and chairs to take care of any hair or crumbs... If I had to empty it once per day I would find that annoying, or more likely forget. I have a regular shark on the first floor and a shark stick vac on the 2nd. I guess the combination of emptying the small chamber daily (10 seconds or not you still have to remember), the idea that you'd need to potentially replace parts, the possibility it gets stuck on a pet toy or a chair you left out of place and the general idea that they simply can't reach many places you need to vacuum make them not seem worth the price to me. Especially if it's being billed as "decent between actual vacuums". If I need something between actual vacuums, I would just add one more actual vacuuming to my cleaning routine so yeah, makes me view them more as novelty gadgets or for people who are very anal and don't want to see a speck ever. I actually enjoy vacuuming carpet and occasional carpet shampooing, but our current house has zero carpet and only (eventually) a few throw rugs. We have one med-long hair cat and one med-long haired wife, both of whose hair sheds all of the time. Our kids are out of the house so it otherwise stays pretty clean, so we haven't seen the need to get a housekeeper. But there are always tufts of hair along the wall, and it's hard to manually keep up with the Dyson (regular brooms suck for hair). I'm tempted to pay for the mop option because the only area that needs mopping is the kitchen on any regular basis, and it is a pain to get out the mop stuff just for that area. If this can do a passable job once a week or so, that would probably be good enough. Like Gutter, I'm worried that the mopping will be meh, but we're not talking big spills, just little spots from normal kitchen wear.

We have one med-long hair cat and one med-long haired wife, both of whose hair sheds all of the time. See I could actually be tempted for a robot mop, just to keep in the kitchen and do light, consistent mopping. You are correct. Getting out mopping stuff is a pita. Currently I use a swiffer wet every so often but that is something I wouldn't mind setting and forgetting If I only needed to change a mop pad on the robot every few goes. as for hair in certain places along the walls and such, this is why I prefer to just vacuum myself. I use the skinny nosed attachment 95% of the time. Although for me, I find that I use it more for sides and arms of chairs, places where pets like to brush and rub up against that a robo vac simply isn't touching. When I was interested in buying the mop version, I read a review that someone described it as rubbing a small cloth over your entire floor, and it gets dirty after the first few feet, so your just rubbing a dirty cloth around most of the floor.
