Elon is a threat so he is singled out and they “find” something, anything they can.  Interpret law’s differently than past precedent, twist narratives, any means necessary.  

Same thing they’ve been going after Donald Trump the day after he was elected years ago.  Attorney Generals ran campaigns on it, not even knowing what charges they’d later file, but they promised to find something.

This is of course nothing to do with actual hiring practices. It is a power move to threaten Musk.....he has strayed from the liberal cult, this is simply something of a warning, a reminder if you will, that the government is power....power that can harm you if it chooses.

The DOJ isn’t persecuting Elon.Everything isn’t some deepstate bullshet. They are alleging he broke some hiring laws. He’ll pay a fine and move on.

They sued Facebook for some discriminatory ad practices as well last year.

Except Elon has requested to hire people who aren’t citizens and they said no because it falls under national security guidelines. And now they are suing him for not hiring non citizens

Not sure about your point and how that played out but if I understand this they are saying SpaceX was applying hiring laws incorrectly it also mentioned something about taking efforts to discourage. This is from the DOJ:

In job postings and public statements over several years, SpaceX wrongly claimed that under federal regulations known as “export control laws,” SpaceX could hire only U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents, sometimes referred to as “green card holders.” Export control laws impose no such hiring restrictions. Moreover, asylees’ and refugees’ permission to live and work in the United States does not expire, and they stand on equal footing with U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents under export control laws. Under these laws, companies like SpaceX can hire asylees and refugees for the same positions they would hire U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents. And once hired, asylees and refugees can access export-controlled information and materials without additional government approval, just like U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents.

The department’s lawsuit alleges that SpaceX discriminated against asylees and refugees based on citizenship status at multiple stages of the hiring process. For example:

SpaceX discouraged asylees and refugees from applying for open positions, through public announcements, job applications and other online recruiting communications that excluded asylees and refugees.

SpaceX failed to fairly consider applications submitted by asylees and refugees.

SpaceX refused to hire qualified asylee and refugee applicants and repeatedly rejected asylee and refugee applicants because of their citizenship status.

SpaceX hired only U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents, from September 2018 to September 2020.

SpaceX recruits and hires for a variety of positions, including welders, cooks, crane operators, baristas and dishwashers, as well as information technology specialists, software engineers, business analysts, rocket engineers and marketing professionals. The jobs at issue in the lawsuit are not limited to those that require advanced degrees.

I am not a lawyer familiar with hiring laws but it seems that some jobs require US citizenship and some do not. SpaceX was improperly applying these laws to jobs they were hiring for.

if I had to guess I would think this has to do with NASA being a government agency and deals with sensitive tech therefore the extra scrutiny. 

As opposed to the DOJ suing a high profile company very publicly over something that is clearly not against the law.

NASA and spaceX work closely together.  SpaxeX will have to follow the same rules as NASA.  As the following article points out Tesla has a huge non US citizen workforce:

Perhaps DOJ will lose who knows. I suspect Spacex will pay a fine, like Facebook did and move on. We’ll see.

If I understand correctly there are specific laws for hiring into certain jobs that deal with tech and things related to national security. The lawsuit is saying they were not applying the law in recent hires properly. It specifically mentions non-tech jobs like welding, cooks, business analysts among other jobs.

I am offering that people are looking for stuff that is not there. The DOJ sued Google, Facebook, is looking at Apple and no one said boo. But they mess with Elon over some hiring practicesand it’s deepstate!
