MDC 7,130 Posted September 26, 2023 I’ve been trying to upgrade QB since I made the terrible mistake of drafting Fields. Early last week I asked a coworker if he wanted RStevenson. He never got back to me, then texted an hour before kickoff to talk about it. We agreed on Mondre and Geno Smith for Tua, and approved the trade. Our Yahoo league has a “review period” for trades and we learned it wouldn’t be processed til tomorrow / Weds. I told him if someone got hurt on Sunday I’d gladly undo this completed (I thought) trade and he said the same. Obviously Tua went off and Mondre was Mondre. My buddy texted today to say he doesn’t feel great about the trade and may vote against it. Apparently Yahoo has a setting where at least us 2 and presumably the rest of the league can vote against trades. He tried to invoke our gentleman’s agreement about injuries. I told him that’s a different story than buyer’s remorse. If Mondre went off for 100 yards and 2 scores and Tua shiit the bed no way I’m backing out of that deal. I mostly blame the commish for not resetting Yahoo’s lame rules. Wtf is with a 3-4 day review period or allowing other owners to vote against trades? But I think it’s a biich move to try to shoot down a deal you already made because of buyer’s remorse. I should add that this is a low stakes work league, this guy is a friend and yes I robbed him blind. Even in a casual work league he is a taco. Who’s right here? posty 2,612 Posted September 26, 2023 You are right... Buyers remorse is never a reason to want to void a trade... 1

Isn’t the fact that it’s low stakes a reason why we shouldn’t be backing out of trades? I don’t plan to fight it either way. He’s a good guy and I have no idea why he agreed to the deal in the first place.

To be fair my buddy has not voted against the deal but he texted to say he was considering it. I think I shamed him out of it.

Honestly, the people that are involved in the trade should not get a vote to try to derail it... When I ran my 10-team league, the two involved were ignored and the other eight voted if they didn't like it...

The commish should have veto power if there’s a reason to suspect collusion and that’s it.

That would be a great option as well, as long as the commissioner can stay neutral...
GutterBoy 2,898 Posted September 26, 2023 You're right but it's a work league and you don't want to cause bad blood over a cheap FF league. In my work league, someone traded Barkley for Mike Williams and njoku. I made a stink, as did a few others, but commish pushed it through. It's only $50 and not worth looking like a baby in a league with my boss and several others I work with

I wouldn’t stay in a serious $ league with such bad rules. Not sure why you guys made a stink. Unless it’s collusion the owners should manage their own teams the way they see fit. Only if there is suspected collusion or outside deals can the commish veto the trade. Basically, if they violate the rules and spirit of the league. In 25 years, we've only had TWO trades vetoed. One instance is where the two owners tried to rent the players for the week and then trade them back the next and the other one was where actual cash changed hands in a side deal. I'm with you here, for what it's worth.
RogerDodger 797 Posted September 26, 2023 Agree with how it should be, but, it isn't. Know your league rules, Fantasy 101. Now you have to own it.

kilroy69 1,216 Posted September 26, 2023 The chances of him being able to get enough teams to veto the trade in a yahoo league is pretty damn low from my experience.
MDC 7,130 Posted September 27, 2023 I texted my buddy last night and said if he wanted to vote against the trade I wouldn’t hold it against him. I did that after finding out that under Yahoo rules, a third of league owners need to vote against a trade for it to be vetoed. I figured that only him and maybe the commish would even notice it. I figured this would make him feel better about it. Trade was processed today. He sent me a sad text saying it went through and I said “That sucks” and put Tua in my starting lineup. He’ll probably blow this week. The exciting conclusion.
