EternalShinyAndChrome 3,832 Posted October 5, 2023 RIP. One of the greatest - if not THE greatest - linebackers players ever. And I'm a Packer's fan.

bostonlager 2,664 Posted October 6, 2023 Anyone remember the infomercial he did in the early 90s where he pimped a grill that used newspaper rather than charcoal? Sucks he died, but I've held a grudge for 30 years.

He was frozen solid in his bed with rigormortis. When i turned the corpse over, his face was frozen in a terrified snarl like he was in total agony. so he mightve woken up in the middle of the night and followed that up with an extremely painful death. so im always skeptical of the "peacefully died in his sleep" thing. Sucks he died, but I've held a grudge for 30 years. I recieved one of these as a gift, but it was in the early 80's. It sort of worked on high fat content items like burgers or brats. The idea was the newspaper would get the fat flowing and would sustain a grease fire which was the real fuel. It sort of worked. I quickly shitcanned it to return to my Weber Little Smokey. I never knew Butkus promoted them. I remember a commercial from around that era where Ray Nitschke was promoting something, I don't remember the product. Nitschke was on screen with a dog. At the end of the add he grabbed the dogs leash to lead it off camera. He said, "come on Butkus", meaning the dog. Truly an iconic figure. A respected oppponent like, Sayers, Piccolo, Ditka (as a player, as a coach he was an ahole), Singeltary, and of course Walter Payton.
