I’ve seen Scorcese movies I didn’t like - Shutter Island and Gangs of NY both sort of sucked. On the other hand Taxi Driver might be my favorite movie and hard to argue with Goodfellas, Casino, the Departed etc.

He’s undoubtedly one of the best American directors of alltime.

Other than Carmen Diaz, what was wrong with Gangs of New York?

It's bloated.

I think Leo's a great actor....but Gangs was one of those movies where it would have been better if they cast a relative in the unkown; a guy who could elicit  the brutality that existed in that world while evoking the compassion the audience was supposed to feel for the character.  It would have been a great breakout role for a young Tom Hardy...but the guy I would have used was in the movie; Stephen Graham.  He was a ponce with balls in Snatch and was absolutely a great character in This is England.

Agreed and I feel the same way about Leo, totally miscast. And these are the 2 most important roles.

Unfortunately, it appears Scorcese won't work with anyone else but DiCaprio and/or DeNiro.

Quote

In July 2022, Deadline reported Scorsese, along with his Killers lead and frequent collaborator Leonardo DiCaprio would team up again to adapt the book The Wager into a for-now untitled film (although it could have the same name). DiCaprio will once again star.

Weren’t you complaining about spamming and trolling a week ago? Seems to me that’s exactly what you’re doing here.

I commented on the the actual topic of the thread and got trolled.

You are a living example of a troll. Always misdirecting because you have deep hatred in your soul. You are a miserable old sick fock.

I have never seen any movie he has directed, mainly because the film didn’t appeal to me…

Post #2 was you turning a thread on a director into a political slapfight. Now you’re lashing out and putting sad faces on posts as usual. You’re also older than me by 10 years, at least.

HTH :(
