josh wiley 30 Posted November 9, 2023 Simple as possible. My understanding of things is pandemic, stimulus payments (which we did appreciate at the time), then inflation adjustments on gas and groceries the likes of which we’ve never seen. Not to mention most people haven’t gotten the extra in pay to account for the difference. Was this just a spot where they said let’s not let a disaster go to waste to reset the price of everyday goods and gas?

They knew this was going to happen, and it did. Real shocker, huh?

BunnysBastatrds 2,319 Posted November 9, 2023 There was a bagina that opened up really big, big enough to throw a turkey down hallelujah hallway. You saw the light, got smacked on your ass, cried, and have spent the rest of yours life trying to recreate that moment.
josh wiley 30 Posted November 9, 2023 Corporate greed is where I def agree. There’s no real reason that a lot of places had to increase prices as much as they have. Including the company I work with. Makes me sick because I have to try to explain it to people all day long, but there really is no justifiable explanation

That's like the 2nd oldest profession. I'd rather that then the gumbent doing it. Those same banks setting monetary policy, that's different.

Like I said, JFK was questioning this system. I would say if they acted independently and weren’t subject to political pressure they might be of use. But I don’t think they are. Hardcore troubadour 14,965 Posted November 9, 2023 The Covid money that went to business was ripe with fraud. You can go on line and see what businesses in your area received. There’s a restaurant/ bar in my town. It’s open 12 hours a day. They claimed they had 49 employees. No Fockin way. It ain’t that big or that busy. 26k per employee. Think they held the line on prices, or had a modest increase? Nope. 16 dollar cheese burgers.

They’ll get some, but it will be a drop in the bucket. And it has to be one of the easiest cases of fraud on a large scale to get restitution. . Just compare the books prior to Covid and after the Covid aid. Let the ones that took it explain. Maybe give them an opportunity to come clean and see what happens.
