Secret Service agents protecting Biden's granddaughter open fire on carjackers

....Agents assigned to protect Naomi Biden shoot at 3 criminals attempting to carjack Secret Service vehicle in Washington DC.....The incident occurred Sunday night in the Georgetown neighborhood. Agents assigned to protect Naomi Biden spotted three people attempting to break into an unmarked Secret Service SUV, the Associated Press reported.

One agent drew his weapon and opened fire, prompting the thieves to flee. They spread away in a red car. No one was injured in the incident, nor were any of the criminals struck when the agent fired at them. The Secret Service sent out a bulletin to law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for the suspects' vehicle. The US capital has seen a rise in crime rates and especially carjackings in 2023. Since the beginning of the year, an estimated 6,000 vehicles have been stolen in 750 carjacking cases.

In October, US Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas) was carjacked at gunpoint not far from the Capitol building.

That carjacking total is well above the 387 reported by that time last year in 2022 and last year's year-end total of 484. Of carjacking arrests, 64% involve juveniles, according to Fox 5.

KEY BACKGROUND - Naomi Biden, 29, is the oldest daughter of Hunter Biden, President Joe Biden's second son with late wife Neilia. She was married on the White House's South Lawn last year. The last time a direct descendant of the president was married at the White House was in 1971, when President Richard Nixon’s daughter Tricia Nixon married in the Rose Garden.

TANGENT - A good Samaritan was praised in Houston this weekend after he pulled a police officer to safety after he was injured in a shootout with a carjacking suspect Saturday morning. The officer was shot in the leg and is expected to recover, local station ABC 13 reported. Houston saw a 35% increase in car jackings from 2019 to 2022, according to the Council on Criminal Justice. A Chicago family was violently carjacked at gunpoint in their driveway last week; seven minors were arrested in a carjacking in Portland, Maine, after allegedly holding a 75-year-old at gunpoint Friday night; and a pregnant woman was saved from being carjacked at a Starbucks in Florida last week by a U.S. Army veteran.

Some thoughts

1) I'm glad no innocents were hurt, injured or shot. ( Anyone who operates as a carjacker is not an innocent. Anyone who serves in sworn law enforcement understands that being hurt, shot or killed is part of the job risk. That being said, I am glad no one in the USSS was injured or killed here) 

2) This further shows the "gun debate" in this country is over. You are on your own. Even the leftist elites can't protect their own. However your tax dollars are spent for them to be guarded by highly trained men with heavy firepower, while many of them want to take your guns away. I'm not saying I agree with each and every Pro-2A stance in this country, but the hypocrisy is obvious and blinding

3) I have no quarrel with traditional liberals, but for the typical virtue signaling responses of the activist radical left - How long do you think they'd hold those "positions" if it was their children and grandchildren under threat from hardened criminals, possible armed threats and carjackers? 

4) The combination of "Defund The Police", the aggressive anti law enforcement sentiment pushing toxic public policy ( particularly in Big Blue Cities and hard Blue strongholds), the cooked "bail reform" culture of the activist left, the demand for "equity" in who should be in prison or jail for violent crimes, the woke Soros bought district attorneys who refuse to actually do their jobs and allow crime to run rampant and terrorize the average working class American - What did anyone think was going to happen? 

Some of you voted for this. Along with many out there. You voted to make it easier for your children to die. Congratulations. 

5) Maybe Naomi Biden should have paid more attention to the kind of "right wing" news outlets she criticizes. The ones who were willing to say that violent crime, ever increasing, is a problem and has been since "The Summer Of Love"  Maybe her decision making and choices would have been different instead of being soaked in hard leftist media that pretends nothing is wrong and crime isn't that big of a deal and is only a "Republican fear mongering point" 

She had protection, where their training costs and logistical pathway COSTS YOU THE TAX PAYER MILLIONS OF DOLLARS to give her full time round the clock security coverage. You, however, the rank and file average American don't get any of that. You are on your own. No one is coming to save you. Team Blue might have some lifeboats after setting this entire country on fire, but do some of you activist radical leftists think they'll let you on board? Do you think they'll save your children from harm when it doesn't fit their "narrative"?

Wonder if it was some random criminal attempt? Does seem like crime has gotten worse in DC lately.

OTOH tensions are rather high with Israel/palestine right now. Could it have been a kidnapping attempt? And of course you can never fully discount domestic terrorism.

But as I understand, the vehicle was unoccupied at the time of the break-in? So that seems to lessen the kidnapping angle. Also makes the decision to shoot curious though.
