Actually, I was the one who "reported him" if you can call it that.

 I logged in one disastrous day to find the forum had gone totally to sh*t, with 25-33% of page one locked down. All political threads. So, I got pissed off and complained to Mike about how his new mods were out of control, shutting down the forum. Thankfully, Mike agreed because he came back through, unlocked 90% of the threads, returned the forum to how it always has been, and gave bostonlager a timeout.

Also,  I don't support anyone getting banned or any threads getting locked. I just didn't want mods having access to the car keys (or anyone else for that matter ... just post what you want) because the mods abused the power and tried to turn the forum on its ear. Threads getting locked pisses me off.

Yes, bostonlager. I continue to like the guy, didn't even know we had mods, let alone that he was one of them. But we obviously have different opinions of how a forum should be run. 

Banning posters and locking threads never set well with me.

yes that part is correct.  the notion that the board intentionally had any new mods or that it was multiple mods deciding how the board would run is incorrect.

I've been here for 22 years and until a couple of months ago, I couldn't have named one mod beside Mike. I have no idea who is behind the curtain and what goes on there.

 

Mods? No mods?  I don't know. I just enjoy the soup. I don't know who makes it but I like the recipe left alone.

I've been here (FFToday, not the geek club) for 17-18 years on this handle and 5 or so on "TheWhiteWonder" before I lost the login and was never able to recover it 

I am not necessarily disagreeing with you, although I think the geek club has turned too much into political nonsense... and I think it was trending this way even before the FBG invasion that everyone likes to blame it on.  I'd prefer a separate political forum because even though the geek club is supposed to be discourse on everything, people can't help themselves and political drivel dominates. A few political threads? thats one thing. Non stop new political threads started all the time by certain posters for the most mundane nonsense in a clear attempt to troll? thats another thing. Sadly, even with a dedicated politics forum, I think the usual suspects would still find a way to turn good threads into slap fights. 

 

Regardless, I just wanted to clarify that Mike did not appoint new moderators for the geek club. No new moderators got together and made any types of decisions on board content. No purposefully appointed moderators abused any mod powers. I am very rarely "in the know" about things happening on this board, nor do I care to be, but in this situation I know exactly what transpired.
