Worst team in history of NFL?

Recommended Posts

Carolina Panthers have not held a lead in the 4th quarter this year.

Both of their wins came as time expired.

If they do the same in their last game, it will be the first time in NFL history.

Just heard this mentioned on xm radio.

I gotta go with the Lions too.  The Panthers have 2 wins...the Lions, that season they were the Seafoam1 of football, NO WINS.

Got to go with the ‘76 Tampa Bay Bucs. They still have the worst point differential (-287) despite only playing a 14-game season.

As a kid I went to a Bears/New Orleans game at Soldier Field. I was pretty young. I think they were both winless, not sure.

It was freezing out, and they didn't plow the snow from the stands. I froze my feet off and the Bears lost 3-0.

Still don't know how I remained a fan.

The Browns were 0-16 in 2017.

Saying a team that has won games is worse than a winless team is classic peefoam 🤣

Did I type too fast for you? 🤣🤣🤣

The panthers won 2 games so far this season, and could win their 3rd this weekend.

The Browns won ZERO games in 2017.  Bucs and Lions did the same.

How can a team with 2 or 3 wins be worse than a winless team? 🤣🤣🤣🤣

:first:

They had several close losses and outplayed Chicago (but still lost, note the zero) that year.

Some people think that record alone shows if a team is good/better or not.

The ‘76 Bucs went 0-14 and had the worst point differential in NFL history. What else do you go by?

My only point was that a team who ends the season with a less win/loss record than another team is not necessarily an indicator of them  being a worse team. And vice versa.

I had Calvin in 2008.  I’ll always love the 0-16 lions. Championship! But yeah, they were really, really bad. Was that the year the QB ran out of the back of the end zone?

That's a solid choice.

That’s true but there have at least 3 teams with worse records AND point differentials than this year’s Panthers team.

I had tickets to a game that year.  Against Minnesota(last time I paid for anything Lions related by the way),  Anyway, they were getting beaten.  We had good seats and saw Dominic Raiola face the crowd and give them a double finger salute--this was a home game mind you.

Also during that game Calvin caught an incredible pass up the sideline right in front of us.

That Orlovsky play I believe did happen in 2008.   Again, against the Vikings, but in Minnesota

When Coach John McKay was asked his thoughts about the teams’ execution, he said “I’m all for it.”

Still one of the best lines in NFL history.

Hands down the worst. It was not done the same way expansion teams have been subsequently formed, which is to say that had to recruit their entire team from free agents, not by selecting players from existing teams. They literally started from scratch and the results showed on the field.

The 2000 Chargers with Ryan Leaf and Jim Harbaugh threw for a total of 19 TDs and 30 INTs.

Jermaine Fazande was their lead RB. 😆

I vote for this team as the worst.

I’m just glad the lions have stopped ruing thanksgiving. Let’s hope they continue to compete.

I agree.  It was tough to defend them holding that spot with how badly they played.  As a Lions fan, I get other city fans not wanting to see them.
