Tree of Knowledge 1,859 Posted January 11, 2024 Yes. Sending the abortion issue to the states is much worse than Bidenflation, WWIII, terrorists and cartels seizing our border, being forced to give up gas stoves/cars/appliances, facing violent transgender assassin squads, unaffordable housing, ending US sovereignty… 4

RLLD 4,230 Posted January 11, 2024 It's congruent with his failures as a politician. His inability to lie and spin is perhaps his greatest weakness.....as a politician. A good politician would avoid the topic entirely, and when cornered that politician would skirt it, avoid, not answer directly etc.... I think it foolish to celebrate the move, not just because I support abortion, but because the people who DO support it will already be voting for him, and the people on the fence might use it later in their choice. The real question is whether or not people will elevate abortion, which is now set and is not likely to be changed, above the well-being of themselves and their family in day-to-day living.... Not Trump. Him being pro abortion isn’t swaying many people. He’s Hitler.

Trump gave an honest answer. This issue cuts both ways. Strong supporters of abortion would never vote for Trump anyways. But Trump could do better at framing the issue pointing out abortion was not banned, but allows states to choose reasonable restrictions on abortion such as late abortion and parental consent restrictions in line with democratic principles. I'm not sure why you think this is a primary issue. General election, yes, and that's my fear. '22 elections were decided by young white single women (read: lefties) who rallied in droves to vote against abortion bans. To other comments: it's not about changing the vote, it's about rallying people to actually vote. Biden elicits virtually zero enthusiasm. If Trump would just shut his mouth he'd probably walk away with the election. But that will never happen. A large reason Trump does all of this is to listen to himself give the best speeches, the most beautiful speeches. The Left will, smartly, play up this issue bigly as the year progresses. His issue is that his life experience makes him take this "fock you and the horse you rode in on" stance. He lacks political savvy. A good politician knows when and how to lie. If he has any intention of lying, he sucks at it.
