I think it screams of Joe and Brian knowing their seats are hot. Rebuilding teams don’t usually trade away picks for a player they have to give a big contract to. It’s generally the other way around.
guess they are going all in with Jones. Better draft Odunze.

It’s a great deal. End of story.  You think they would get anything close to this guy with a second and a fifth? Even Luke Combs is pissed Carolina didn’t get more.

What’s the question, the money? WGAF. He’s a young star they control for five years. And I don’t know what this has to do with the QB. They just let Tyrod go to the jets. That should tell you that QB is in play.

Cousins for$45M/year.  WTF?

If the 49ers had Cousins over the past few years, I bet they would have at least 2 super bowl wins in that time. If a team can keep Cousins upright and protected, he will carve up other teams unlike many QBs in this league. The dude is Mr. Consistent. He's been proving it for years on mediocre teams. He's a pretty good QB and that is what they are going for these days. $40M+. It's crazy.

Oh look.  MDC bringing his perpetual slap fight into a football thread.

Dude doesn't get that 1) There are multiple good players in the draft and multiple different approaches a single team could take, and 2) Time and circumstances change the outlook of what the GMs of teams plan on doing and as a fan of a team, all you can do is speculate and chat about what you think would be good and bad.

But he would rather pull a timhack and slap fight about everything. I think he wants to be an honorary Packers fan when it comes to anything Bears speculation. They are all obsessed.

It’s right there in that very thread from a month ago. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Remember all the dopes who said the Bears should keep Fields and pass up Caleb Williams? 😂

The Bears can't give Fields away 😂

All I heard was how great Fields is and how he was set up for failure.   Someone said hes on the same path as Lamar Jackson.   Some said ATL was giving thr 8th overall.  I tried to tell everyone.

Apparently well paid scouts and GMs and coaches are all just wrong on Fields.  The segment of fans who think hes good (for whatever unknown reasons) know hes good.

Yup. They over estimated his worth on the open market. Apparently it's zero.

Denver maybe? If Payton was frustrated by Wilson then he's gonna love Fields 😭

Hard to imagine Denver.  Not only Payton but they really shouldnt be giving up any picks after that Russ fiasco.  They have minimal talent.  Terrible drafts.  Losing guys.  That cupboard is bare.  They need a total rebuild.

Who over estimated? Show me where Poles said he was even.trading  Fields. And then show me where he said his "worth".

Or are you reading articles from outsiders who put expectations on his value? Or your simply making shlit up like the packer fams do?

Maybe it is similar, a lot of teams could have had Jackson as well. His own team gave him permission to shop for a deal. :dunno:

I hope he gets another chance but, he definitely needs to be coached up. He doesn't see anything post 1st read right now.

Why would he say it? GMs never make that public. They're drafting Caleb Williams at #1. Caleb Williams and Justin Fields cannot coexist. It's not happening.

There's obviously no market for Fields, he sucks.

There have been plenty of reports saying thr Bears are shopping him.  Poles himself has basically said it without saying it.  They have been in talks with teams. This is not some secret.

Reports from people in the media who don't know shlt.

And Poles didn't say it. He said whst all GMs say. "We listen to everthing and explore all possible options." The reporters aren't reporting shlt, they are speculating. I also think they want to trade him but lI know they wanted Williams to go to Chicago to take a physical last week and Williams turned them down.

You don't draft a guy #1 without a physical.

So multiple reports from different people saying they have spoken to the Steelers and Falcons is a lie?

If Poles ISNT shopping him or hasn't then what on earth is he doing?  Another inept GM?  If he isn't shopping him then that is a worse look that missing the boat.

I find it hard to believe both Fields and a 1st round rookie are on the roster and you give Fields the start.  That would be insanity.

They talked to steelers and falcons about their interest. Those teams don't know what the bears plans are. That's the whole point. Poles has probably spoken to every team about a lot of different players. That's what GMs are supposed to do.

How can the Bears know they are taking Williams without having the results of the single most important piece of pre draft information teams need to have on a player. Their medical.

He doesn't. He provided all medical records to the Bears.

When did he take a physical for the Bears?

According to SI.com's Albert Breer, Williams' decision not to go through medical exams at the NFL Scouting Combine and another decision not to come to Halas Hall for a Top 30 visit this week will prevent the Bears from doing their own medical tests on the USC QB until later this month.Mar 4, 2024

Waitaminute: Tampa gave Baker Mayfield a 3-year $100m contract with $60m guaranteed??? 😂 😂

$50M guaranteed.  Basically a 2 yr/$50M deal.  He's not going to see year 3.  His cap hit this year is only $10M.  If they cut (or trade), him next offseason (because they likely draft a QB this year), he'll only be a $19M cap hit next year.

The Bears don't know. Just because you would take a guy to play football and pay him 10s of millions without a physical doesn't mean the real NFL teams would do that.

He never said he wouldn't take a physical. He said that he would only provide his medical records to teams in a position to draft him, THE BEARS.

How come everyone on the planet knows the Bears are taking Caleb Williams except you? And if Caleb Williams dies before the draft then it will be a different QB. Fields is dog dirt.

The bears wanted him to go to Chicago to take a physical last week. He declined and said not until later in the month would he do itHow difficult is that to understand?

The Bears wanted to know his mefical before free agency.

Craziest RB first day of free agency ever. Like you said. And it's not particularly close.

Lots of cuts to come. Teams have to be under the cap by tomorrow. Chargers are 25 million over.

I don't think Poles was going to trade Fields unless the deal he wanted was offered.  It wasn't, so they will stick with Fields.  I don't see a problem with it.

Stick with him how?  Play him and not draft a 1st round QB?

That's what I would do. Trade that first pick and get a haul for it.
