As I wrote before: I DO trust all of these new polls. But I’m concerned that they will last. Right now the idea of Trump as a felon is a new thing. But as the public gets used to it I think their minds will return to more bread and butter concerns- which means inflation. We’ll see.

These polls are kind of similar to Trump in 2016 right after the Access Hollywood tape was released. If the election had been held a few days later Hillary would have won easily IMO. But weeks later when the voting actually took place, the public had moved on.

It’s a dumb question to ask if the verdict “was correct.” They should be asking if the system worked or if people respect the verdict.

With Rittenhouse and Zimmerman, I did not think the verdict was “correct,” but I do think the system worked as it was supposed to and that those verdicts must be respected.

Election odds by bookmakers are not based on who they think will win. It is based on the amount they think will be wagered on an outcome on either side and they will try to set the odds so it will be roughly 50/50 of what is bet, minus the vigorish.

They probably anticipate a larger of number of bettors will put money down on Trump as a result of the verdict, not because they think it is more likely that Trump will win.

Spoken like someone who rarely if ever gambles.  The answer you gave is the textbook response from about 10-15 years ago.  In today’s real world there is rarely if ever 50/50 action on both sides of the line, whether it be on a % of bets or a % of money basis.  Oddsmakers today are more inclined to set the line at what they think rather than what the public thinks.  And the lines they set on Presidential Odds are THE BEST INDICATOR of the actual election result.  But keep posting those generic countrywide poll results, which bear no semblance to how our Republic actually works.
