I'm a fan of free meals for students.  I'd like to see more being done for students and our education system because it's been a disaster.

No such thing as a free lunch.  Somebody is paying for it.

One thing I would absolutely do if I was Gates or Musk rich is make sure lunches were 100% paid for in my local school district.

Your entry into this thread this morning was “Kamala hates Jews”. The next interesting thing you say will be the first. Focking dope.

Sadly, Minneapolis is a crime ridden blue shat hole and the rest of the state with sane people have to balance out the numbers.

Well he’s the Governor of the whole state.

But your point about Minneapolis is completely wrong. A great city, great downtown, great adjacent neighborhoods. I travel all around the US for work and go there frequently. Always enjoy it there. Very good quality of life.

No sh1t?  I think it's a good thing to help with regardless.  I'd rather money go towards that then forgiving moron's student loans.

I mean, if you don’t consider crime as a factor, I’m sure it’s great.

Trump on Tim Walz “He will unleash HELL ON EARTH!”

But he’s been the Gov for Minnesota for 5 years and Minnesota keeps rising in best states to live rankings 🤔

You obviously haven't been to Minnesota 😂

The whole state or just Minneapolis?  That city doesn't come close to representing the rest of the state.  MN is pretty awesome overall.

I think schools in agricultural areas ought to have school farms.  The kids can work on the farm in rotations during the school year and summer.  They can learn about agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, running a business, and processing both produce and animal products.  They would get some work experience, have something to do other than get into mischief, and they could help feed themselves as the produce and meat and cheeses and yogurts would all go to the schools.

I have not lived in Minnesota since the 80's.  I enjoyed my time living there.

I like that idea.  Hunter safety, foraging and conservation would be great as well.  Most rural areas already have FFA and 4-H.

Some of the policies Tim Walz signed into law in Minnesota:

-Universal school meals

-Stronger labor protections

-Cannabis legalization

-Stronger LGBTQ+ protections

-paid leave/sick

-100% clean energy by 2030

-repro rights -$1B for housing

-gun safety

-cut child poverty 1/3

Granted I am staying in the bougier parts of the city but have walked all around and been to many of the outlying neighborhoods and is very nice. Amazing food town, property is very affordable (at least compared to where I live), downtown sports stadiums are all very cool, people like to get after it in the summer, that part up by the river is in particular really nice.

I’d put it on par with Denver or Charlotte which are also great spots.

Minnesota, as a state, seems to be a really great place.  Many times, places offer so many good things, that they are able to overcome a lot. I would think Minnesota is great despite their Governor, more so than because of their Governor.

Good idea.  I particularly liked to forage up in Minnesota for Wild rice.  They had strict limits on what one could take.

In states where pot is legal the kids could work at growing and processing marijuana and the sales could help support their school food programs, music and drama programs and sports programs and some students would, again, gain relevant job experience.

There are so many great, life improving skills that could be taught in schools.  Too many stupid people in charge that won't let it happen though.

I agree.  In high school I would like to see the schools partner with trade schools.  Those students not college bound, and many who currently are should not be, could go to the trade schools half days in the afternoons. They could learn HVAC, plumbing, electrical work, diesel mechanics, and other useful trades so that upon graduation they could move directly into their trade.  They could get their high school diploma and their journeyman's certificate at the same time.

The schools in my area have done this for years.  I think each high school in my area is connected with a community college that offers college courses.  Very helpful for those students who know what they want to do.
