This is a nothing story. Coming from Trump led ticket is pretty odd. I don’t know how much Walz leaned into his service but what I have read so far he has said he got more out of it than he gave, he deferred to others, etc. If he acted like he stormed the beaches at Normandy that’s not a good look on him. Reality 3,092 Posted August 7, 2024 Why is the Democratic machine terrified to let Kamala near journalists, unscripted? They don't think she's up to the task, how can she possibly run a country? This is a really bad look for the Harris campaign.

This is a nothing story. In my experience those who served are generally absolutely precise about their servicve records and they are sensitive when others puff their records or lie about them, especially about service in war or combat. I think the recording of Walz saying he carried a weapon in war will haunt him. Maybe not.

JuneJuly 193 Posted August 8, 2024 Let's stop calling them serviceman and start calling them heroes. First rule of a HERO is being humble. Bragging about it would be bad enough. Lying is unforgivable.

Yeah this is a total BS story. He didn’t run from combat. And while he’s not technically a command Sgt. Major, (due to retirement rules) he was one so referring to himself as one is not a lie. This whole thing is crap and nobody is going to care. Although I never served in the military I take service very seriously. I had an uncle who survived the Bataan Death March, cousins who served in Vietnam and Iraq and Afghanistan. That’s why I thank each and every service member I encounter, both here and elsewhere. You know what matters to me? A politician who calls our military suckers and losers. Who dismissed John McCain as not a hero. A VP candidate who wants to pull us out of NATO. So you can go fock yourself with your BS claims. Seriously.

There was no need to leave his limited national guard service to run for congress as there are laws and practices protecting and holding jobs, including congress, while service is imposed. His story is a bit of political puffery. Not the worst ever seen but it does not hold water, particularly his recorded statement about carrying a weapon in war. I assure you, having been to New Ulm, there was no war zone there in the last 100 years or so. I wonder if one could sell shirtswith his face and the phrase, survived the Battle of New Ulm. I suspect however there is more to the story. A week ago I didn’t know who Tim Walz was. From what I’ve read he sure seems like a guy filled with honor and great integrity. His actions as governor regarding transgenders in particular tell me that he’s a brave guy willing to stand up to his convictions. I really like and admire that. I also really like his stances on gays and undocumented immigrants, on Covid and the George Floyd protests. All of this makes he think he is a stand up guy. Perhaps like other politicians he stretches the truth about himself from time to time. That would be unfortunate. Still like him though.
