Harris was terrific again in her delivery. Anyone who claims now that she is not a good speaker, or that people don’t like her, is simply not paying attention or in denial or both.

The speech was filled with economic proposals and it trashed Trump’s ideas (especially the tariff, at last!) One new proposal- a $6000 tax credit during rhe first year of a baby. Talk about promoting families…

And we haven't even gotten to the after Convention bounce in the polls yet.

Sure he approves that message, because he’s the one mostly to blame for the inflation, and he will make it far worse. Good luck with that ad, lol.

Honestly this claim that Kamala Harris isn’t generating huge crowds is just making you look really really really stupid. Everyone is laughing at you.

Because they lap up whatever gruel their masters put in their bowl on the floor without questioning.  Their Republican Masters are for corporations and big wigs and fat cats. They really don't care about the little guy.  They are perhaps the most useful idiots of the past 100 years in politics.

Is this the centrist position?

Fun fact:  If you think one party is the most useful idiots in the past 100 years, you aren't centrist, you are a neck-deep sycophant of the other party.  Centrists see some benefits of both sides, hence "centrist."  The logic of this should go without saying, but I have my doubts that you'll get it.

I’m sorry if you’re insulted. That wasn’t aimed at you personally. I’ve been reading a lot of conservatives claiming that this will help “illegal immigrants” and “undesirables” buy homes. I believe that, in the Trump era, there is a racist element to many of these arguments. I can offer you plenty of evidence for that. Sorry if that offends you.

In regards to your earlier post: I do not believe that a program like this one would make it more difficult for you to purchase a home. I don’t believe it would come out of your pocket. On the contrary I believe it will make things more beneficial for you. If I didn’t believe that I would be opposed to it, so you needn’t accuse me of being in favor of your punishment. That is the opposite of my goal here.

You are a white leftist person living in the U.S. playing the race card on Conservatives because you read some stuff and adopted the same views. You are the ultimate leftist lemming. No, there is not a racial element to the Conservatives thoughts on making things better.

Did she answer any unscripted questions from the 20-ish people in attendance?

Republicans are in favor of continuing subsidies for oil companies. Why doesn’t this create inflation?

Republicans are in favor of building up our military by giving billions to aerospace. Why doesn’t this create inflation?

Republicans are in favor of building Trump’s wall by giving billions to private manufacturers to finish it. Why doesn’t this create inflation?

This is why guys like @Strike and the rest are such hypocrites. They only make these arguments when they oppose what the spending is for. Then it becomes inflation and Marxist. If they like the spending, they’re silent about all this stuff.

At the risk of interrupting the "master class" you are putting on...

Inflation is the result of a reduction in buying power for your currency.

Spending in and of itself doesn't cause inflation.  If you don't print more money, but rather move around where that money is spent, that shouldn't cause net inflation.

If you print more money to do any of the things you listed, or to give $25K to homebuyers, or pass the $2T Inflation Increase Act, then that causes inflation.

Exactly. And you’re not giving 25,000 to homeowners. You’re giving banks a credit. I seriously doubt any money is printed. Which is part of the reason I question whether this will cause net inflation either.

on a micro level, you are essentially inflating the price of those starter homes by 25K.  As I've often said regarding liberal policies:  beware the unintended consequences.

But if you are not printing money/borrowing for it, and instead moving it from some some other bucket, I agree that it is not going to cause macro-level inflation.

If you think they are going to tax the rich to pay for it... well, that is 0 for 826314738921 in the history of the world, because the rich always have better and smarter people to avoid such taxes.  But perhaps this time... it will be different?  :dunno:

 A credit that' somehow is not going to count as money as long as they actually don't turn on the printing press huh?  JFC you just say stuff.  Buffoonery.

And @jerryskids I wasn’t trying to give a master class. I was pointing out that while  neither political party really cares about our debt, Republicans only pretend to care when it’s spending they don’t like. I’m sure you don’t disagree.

As for Kamala, she doesn’t even pretend to care. I admit I liked her speech today, mainly because I want her to win and I think this will help her do so. But she is a spend spend spend liberal just like every other liberal before her. Who could deny it? She doesn’t worry about the deficit or the debt. Why should she? She threw in a laughable line today, something like “we will reduce the deficit as we do this!” No explanation how. It was similar to when Trump claimed that cutting corporate taxes actually produces more revenue. Ah well.

My twitter feed was a 100 times improved this morning with all the hot women for Trump.  Then all it took was for the babbling baboon to come out and say how prices are 50% higher than before she took office to completely ruin it.

33:34 "My Administration will provide first time home buyers with $25,000 to help with the down payment on a new home."

IdioTim thinks this isn't real money that will be inflationary.

You know what causes inflation (aka devaluation of the dollar) and high priced things, such as cars, homes, and tuition?  LENDING. Way too much credit has been offered in this country.

We will see. Your principles are correct theoretically but we don’t live in a theoretical world. There are so many other factors at play, so much government involvement already, that I don’t think inflation is affected that much. In any case as I keep pointing out our inflationary problems are global so there is very little we can do to affect them for good or ill.

I disagree they are theoretical.  They're used by economists in every decision.  It's like multiplication tables in math or 1+1=2.  It's the basic factual foundation of economics like those simple equations are to mathematics.  You have to have basic truths to examine issues.

This one isn't complex because there is only one change/input.  Let's talk inflation in American housing, not global, as that is what this directly impacts.  This won't have an impact on the price of beans in Minsk.  However, there is no chance the government subsidizing $25K is not going to directly impact demand in starter homes here in the U.S.  It's what Harris' goal is, and it would succeed in increasing that demand.  If we can't agree that increasing demand in a vacuum increases price, then we aren't operating in the same reality.  There is no offset she's mentioned and there is literally only one outcome.  Someone could argue that outcome is ok for some greater goal, obviously I'd disagree.  It's possible we enter a recession and that offsets some of the increase, but even in such scenario prices would still be propped up higher by this action.

I think that it’s a great idea. If we’re going to invest in the economy there is no better way than to invest in homebuying. It’s the key to everything else. This is exactly what we did after World War II with the GI Bill which created the greatest boom in human history. Sorry if you’re too short-sided to see that.

Looking for short-sighted dumb a$$?
