You Can Now Buy A New Tesla Model Y With 0.99% APR Financing

Yes, Tesla is offering a financing deal that’s hard to pass up. The company is offering 0.99% APR financing on a new Tesla Model Y! That’s a crazy-low financing option. Note that it’s only available on the Model Y, though, not the Model 3.

Wait, what’s going on — the federal interest rate is 5.3%, so how can Tesla be offering 0.99% financing? And one week ago, the lowest financing rate on a Model Y was 6.49%!

Basically, Tesla is subsidizing the financing. Confused yet? With federal interest rates at 5.3%, banks can’t come in and offer 0.99% financing to consumers. However, shifting money around a bit, Tesla can subsidize the financing instead of doing the usual vehicle price cuts (or can do both).

“Typically, when an automaker offers an unusually low interest rate, it’s accounted as a price cut for the manufacturing side of the business,” Barron’s notes. Of course, I don’t have to tell you: Tesla doesn’t always do things the typical way. However, one way or another, Tesla is footing the bill for the lower interest rate — no bank is doing so.

This is going to be hard to pass up

Lack of gas and maintenance :knock on wood: helps bring cost down. Insurance may be a bit more than a relative car.

My Honda Accord  is low maintenance, high MPG and low cost.  I prefer that over the Tesla for now.  Should that price get down into the low $30's then I would be willing to consider it.

Yep. Everyone’s needs, budgets, what they are looking for is different. If looking at a daily driver, you want to drop 40-50k Tesla is a very good option to consider IMO.

I really like the car......alot....  they made a great car first and foremost, and then they made it electric.....

Its well-designed, comfortable and so long as the eco-warriors can be held at bay, it could become a staple.....

The Y is a piece of garbage. I wouldn't take one if it was Free.

My Wife had a Plaid, we called it the fastest golf cart in the world, she hated it, gone. Bring on the gas guzzler

Isn't the resale terrible? Wouldn't someone be better off buying used?

All EVs have terrible resale value. It costs about $20,000 to replace the batteries from a dealer.

You'd be a fool to purchase any used EV.

I sold some baseball cards to trade up the last time for my current ride. Your point is valid. Unfortunately one was a 2009 Bowman Chrome Prospect Auto of Mike Trout graded BGS 9 Mint, that I sold for $1,300. It's since went up to $8,000, but is back down to $4k. Still, not replacing that card as long as it doesn't at least halve in price again.

I still believe that the all electric car is not going to ever be mainstream.

Nice. That money will add up fast if/when you sell someday.

The ZL1 Camaro is no joke, 650+ HP. Yet not super expensive at about $75-80,000.

I told you before, my Wife had a Plaid. It was scary fast and she hated it. It was like a supercharged golf cart. You couldn't go slow if you wanted to. She got rid of it

We all like a naturally aspirated V8 rumbling beneath our feet. I mean, us Men do.

Out of curiosity, what's your grocery getter nowadays?

You pay $70 for a hair cut and beard trim at the salon. People that live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
