I'll caveat by saying- I'd like to see more of the story before I know it is exactly what the Twitter warrior says.

 

However- if it is truly because of what the person says- then I feel bad for that young lady. She worked hard to get that degree and then her dad pulls a stunt like that and she looks absolutely embarrassed to be a part of any of it. Dude should've been drug out back and dealt with.

Stories online seem to indicate the dad didn't like the way the district handled bullying stuff with his daughter. So he isn't a racist a-hole, just a regular old a-hole.

Two other things stand out:

1.) The high school, and district, itself has been in the news before for things that were racist in nature with kids doing the "Seig Heil" hand gesture stuff and hate filled stuff in videos online mocking teachers and fellow students with anti-LGBTQ slurs...so some people saw one thing and another and decided they were connected- which leads to...

2.) This is where Twitter/social media outrage control gets out of control. People saw a white dad and black superintendent and immediately jumped to the conclusion because it fits the imagery. It would take a few minutes or hours to see the full picture but people want to be first.

On the main page there towards the top right hand corner is a button that reads "Start New Topic". You click that and then you can title a thread and put whatever stories you want in there. I recognize that those 2-3 steps might be super difficult but really it gives a story that HT thinks deserves full attention the full attention it deserves.

Social media culture is terrible and while it really took hold in the mid to late 2000s that is at best tangentially correlated to Obama. But it isn't one leading to the other. No matter what the past history there is zero reason why you would pick this moment of all moments in time to confront the principal. None. If you can not act like a grown asss man in public then do not go out in public. Now he is forever going to be branded a racist even if he is just an assshole with pisss poor timing and rage issues.
