The Price of Stamps

Recommended Posts

Stamp prices are outrageous.  Starting July 14th they are increasing again to 73 cents.  Not a big deal when mailing out one letter but it's a huge expense to businesses.

There are bulk business rates.

We get a business rate and it's still ridiculous.  We pay $.649 right now and it will be going up.  That adds up when I mail out 200 statements.

I still buy a book of stamps every so often; birthday cards, thank you's things like that. I only have one actual bill that I mail in every 3 months...but that's just NUTS.

A lot of businesses try and go paperless now, makes a lot of sense.

It's become a pretty big chunk of change to mail out statements now.  I won't even mail people statements if their balance is only a couple dollars.  Not worth it.

We offer that.  Farmers are not big on changes.  My customer base is very old school.  I still have customers that buy equipment with cash.

My Grandmother in law, lives directly next door. She snail mailed me a birthday card on June 20, postmarked June 20. I got it yesterday

Why did she mail it I asked her?  Her answer "I felt weird putting in your mailbox" 😐  Focking old people!

She spent, what is it now? 51 cents to send a $100 check

Oh jeez, you’re officially old when you start railing about this :(

Candy was 59 cents!

A pint of beer only cost 5 bucks!

Gas was under two dollars a gallon!

Times change, old feller

Your grandma still sends you a birthday check?

Do you spend it on Lego’s and lollipops?

Well... it's kind of my job.  Postage is one of many expenses for my business and it adds up.

Labor is expensive, gas is expensive. The stamp isn’t priced to make a 20% profit etc. it’s a bargain in the big picture

How much would it cost you to hand deliver all of your mail?

True...the price of our stamps is a steal compared to many other countries. It's like 4 bucks a stamp in Denmark
