Caleb Williams is going to be just fine. There's a reason he was drafted 1 overall, now just beef up that o-line and get a running game so he doesn't need to play Hero Ball every down.

One of our younger co-workers is a Bears fan and once they got number 1 paired with the 9 was convinced this was their season. He would send me tweets from the Bears training camp anytime Caleb completed a pass. Right before the season started he declared that the Bears would go 12-5 and then listed all the wins.  The best part, even on a 10 game losing streak he's still talking trash.  Naturally though, it's switched to the Packers and how they overpaid for Jordan Love or how good they are going to be when they get the offensive coordinator from the Lions.  

I think all the losing over the years has given him CTE.

People don't see it yet, but Caleb has a fatal flaw... The fakeness.  It's that kind of RG3.  He carries himself like RG3.  Fake as hell and his teammates are going to see it from a mile away and won't rally around him.

Everyone assumed CW would have no learning curve and they saw the 3 receivers plus Cmet and Swift and thought Chicago would put up pinball stats. Turns out, you put a rookie QB behind a terrible OL and he’s going to struggle. Who knew?

Edit: I think Caleb will be fine long term. Chicago focked up by not starting fresh at GM and coach too.

I like Williams, Moore, Allen, Odunze, Sweat, Edmunds, Edwards, Bagent, Byard, Gordon, Brisker, Dexter and obviously Tory Taylor.  He also resigned Jaylon and Kmet.

The team has a lot of talent.

Like Ive said before, Im not calling Caleb a bust.  Its just funny how going into the season Bears fans thought they were stacked.  Pundits said Caleb is in best situation for a 1st overall pick rookie QB in recent memory.   Then they win like 4 games and now its like "oh yeaaa OL".  

Plus they really overrate his stats.  They get behind like 17-0 routinely.  Hes made some real nice throws here and there.  He also doesnt find wide open WRs.  And holds it waaaaay too long.  

Greg Cosell said he thinks Maye has done the best job of the rookies for what he is working with.  Then you got Jayden putting that team on his back and sending the Skins to thr playoffs in year 1.  You have Bo Nix with that roster probably going to the playoffs.

There are a lot of variables to his sacks.  Bad OL play, WRs not getting open, poor play calls, holding the ball too long, not throwing the ball away and thinking he can outrun defenders.

He looked like a rookie but he showed what he's capable of doing.  He can lead the team back to win late in games.  There haven't been many Bear's QBs that have done that.  Caleb put the team in winning position multiple times this year.

Getting down early and putting your team in position to win late in the game is not considered garbage time, in my opinion.

Very low bar, but it doesn't negate the fact that he had a pretty good season.  There are a lot of 1st round QBs that go to bad teams and perform terribly.

With all due respect for your passion and hope citing him as the best Bears Q.B. in several categories in recent memory is like areguing the tallest dwarf is of imposing stature.  Still there may be reason to hold out hope if only the Bears had a plan for his developement, which it seems they do not.  They need a coach and a GM in sync with developing and nuturing young talent.  They need patience and stability.  I will believe it when I see it.

 

Still and all, nice win yesterday.  They got statistically dominated but they made my team look like the bunch of dolts they have been all year.  A nice way to go into the offseason, no doubt.

You act like I'm saying he's the best QB ever or something, I'm not.  He has a lot to improve on but he has tons of potential.  The Bears haven't had a decent QB that could lead the franchise since Jay Cutler.  They have their guy, now it's up to the owners to take advantage of it.

No, I did not mean or intend to put you on the position that you were saying he was an all time great.  i simply found the stats about him compared to other Bear's Q.b.'s funny since, let's face it, that is a meaningless comparison.  the first set of comparisons, the one to other first overall draft choices I did find interesting.

Apparently not.  The team has played undisciplined all year and he has had a number of coaching gaffs this year.  Still, his eyebrows, hair, and facial hair shadow always look impeccable, so we have that.

Well i do note that they could have easily had the win in Washington, and the Green Bay win, the packers only win in the Division this year, could easily have turned out differently.  I seem to recall the Bears giving on of the vikes or the Lions a pretty solid game as well.
