Maximum Overkill 1,908 Posted December 31, 2024 He was better than Payton Manning was in his rookie season and way better than Troy Aikman was in his first season. Caleb Williams is going to be just fine. There's a reason he was drafted 1 overall, now just beef up that o-line and get a running game so he doesn't need to play Hero Ball every down. Mike Honcho 5,251 Posted December 31, 2024 One of our younger co-workers is a Bears fan and once they got number 1 paired with the 9 was convinced this was their season. He would send me tweets from the Bears training camp anytime Caleb completed a pass. Right before the season started he declared that the Bears would go 12-5 and then listed all the wins. The best part, even on a 10 game losing streak he's still talking trash. Naturally though, it's switched to the Packers and how they overpaid for Jordan Love or how good they are going to be when they get the offensive coordinator from the Lions. I think all the losing over the years has given him CTE.
nobody 2,651 Posted December 31, 2024 People don't see it yet, but Caleb has a fatal flaw... The fakeness. It's that kind of RG3. He carries himself like RG3. Fake as hell and his teammates are going to see it from a mile away and won't rally around him.

Its not Caleb by any means hes already "great" to Bears fans. Its the coaching, team, leadership....yet you arent sure on getting another GM? Do you trust Poles can land the right head coach? What if they focking go with Pete Carroll? Lol I like Poles. I like a lot of the players he's brought in but I don't like how he's handled the OL. I still think everything starts with ownership. I want the McCaskey's to sell the team. They need new ownership and need to move the team to their land at Arlington Heights. It would be a huge reboot for the franchise. Like Ive said before, Im not calling Caleb a bust. Its just funny how going into the season Bears fans thought they were stacked. Pundits said Caleb is in best situation for a 1st overall pick rookie QB in recent memory. Then they win like 4 games and now its like "oh yeaaa OL". Plus they really overrate his stats. They get behind like 17-0 routinely. Hes made some real nice throws here and there. He also doesnt find wide open WRs. And holds it waaaaay too long. Greg Cosell said he thinks Maye has done the best job of the rookies for what he is working with. Then you got Jayden putting that team on his back and sending the Skins to thr playoffs in year 1. You have Bo Nix with that roster probably going to the playoffs.

They have a lot of talent and plenty of potential. They need to bolster the OL and DL. Need a good coaching staff as well. The team culture is trash right now and needs to be fixed. There are teams that win plenty of games with far worse rosters.

They get so down so early and he does some heroics in thr 2nd half to make it look like he played a real good game. Or they just score 3 vs Seattle at home and thr whole game is a bore. At least Caleb doesnt need to scapegoat. Ask most any QB and they will say sacks against is generally a QB stat. “The stupid connotation behind my offense line being bad is not the truth. I’ve taken a good amount of sacks that have been my fault,” Williams said. I read a stat where Caleb is still one of the most sacked QBs when not considered "pressured". From a generally good pocket he is still taking sll sorts of sacks. Again not burying him and saying hr has no chance. I know there hasnt been much of any good QB play in Chicago. So when you guys see anything remotely decsnt you will overrate it. I understand.

So when you guys see anything remotely decsnt you will overrate it. I understand. There are a lot of variables to his sacks. Bad OL play, WRs not getting open, poor play calls, holding the ball too long, not throwing the ball away and thinking he can outrun defenders. He looked like a rookie but he showed what he's capable of doing. He can lead the team back to win late in games. There haven't been many Bear's QBs that have done that. Caleb put the team in winning position multiple times this year. Getting down early and putting your team in position to win late in the game is not considered garbage time, in my opinion. Very low bar, but it doesn't negate the fact that he had a pretty good season. There are a lot of 1st round QBs that go to bad teams and perform terribly. 19 minutes ago, EternalShinyAndChrome said: How about the Most Yards by a Rookie QB from 3pm to 5pm on Sundays category? The Bears had some very close games that should have been won. They could easily have been 9-8 overall and 4-2 in the division this year. If they won the games they were suppose to, I think people would have a different opinion on Williams' season.
