Helene Disaster Response: The Regime leaving Red States to die?

Recommended Posts

I have worked in private sector my whole life. All kinds of morons. That’s fine, they sometimes get canned, maybe the biz goes under.

Some things, like the handling of a natural disaster across multiple states with millions impacted can only be handled by the Government.

They are far from perfect and their mistakes should be highlighted but what other way would there be?

Obviously Donald Trump (Superman) just needs to MAGA some paper towels at them and Jesus will take the wheel. (shrugs)

I believeTrump did or was all about cutting FEMA funding which is the last stop for people who have lost everything.

He will then be the first to betch about them failing. His typical move.

"I'm sorry FEMA couldn't help. I had to strip them down. They we're costing us so much money. (I don't know who they are) but I will have a big beautiful plan. (Many people are saying it's so beautiful) in 2 weeks.  (Just 2 weeks)  Hang on to your raft and thank you for your vote. You know I won in a land slide. Biggest win ever. (many people are saying)"

Exactly.  California is Hunter Biden.

I watched a show about the Menendez brothers and they both seem like better people than Hunter.

I still agree that private companies handling a disaster is not the answer, but you can keep stating it.....and I will keep agreeing..... and then reiterating that we have to improve government

You offered the Red Cross and churches as the direction. That won’t cut it.

Sure the government messes up shet, but when the it hits the fan they end up bailing things out.

I don’t know as much as I should as I had an older model IPad, and it crapped out. If this has been brought up, sorry, but how is this catastrophe going affect the election for those that may have no electricity and no way to travel to get to cast their votes?

I guess what I’m asking, which candidate does this help/hurt most.

You didn’t go through the nightmare of Katrina. You’ve never lived or experienced anything like this.

I’m sure you will blame it on Bush. No one, and I say no one on either side of the aisle handled the beginning well. And the aftermath was dominated by politicians, bureaucrats, and the saddest of all, FEMA (Fawk Every Man Alive). I had my FEMA license for twenty three years that allowed me to handle any all FEMA claims anywhere in the country.

Even state run media is recognizing Trump’s humanitarian aid and ability to fill the gaping leadership hole we currently have at the federal level.

I’m sure that sucked.

Ultimately everything got rebuilt. New levee system put in. It’s what we do.

Make improvements, try not to repeat same mistakes. Hold the federales accountable but when the shet hits the fan they (we footing the bill) fix it.  It’s fine to complain but everyone’s hands are out when it goes down.

If I may interject here, I think in general, a public/private approach works best in these situations.  FEMA has the resources and authority to do big things, and to coordinate the overall effort.  But the closer you get to on-the-ground activities, those tend to be much more efficient when executed by private companies.

Just a thought.

Luckily I don’t live in an area with frequent natural disasters (please hold off on the big earthquake tectonic plates TIA) but I thought FEMA does have all kinds of contracts like this.

Maybe they do, I don't know the details.  I was speaking more in the hypothetical against what seemed like a dichotomy argument.

Also, you've got a major tectonic plate junction not far off of the PNW coast which is overdue for some unwanted behavior.  It's what created your mountains.  Ts and Ps.

Quote

The Cascadia tectonic margin is caught between several tectonic forces, during the relentless motions of the giant Pacific Plate, the smaller subducting Juan de Fuca Plate, and the North American Plate.

We also got Rainier ready to pop off sending lava, glacial melt, and biblical mudslides pouring into the White, Cowlitz, Nisqually, and Puyallup river valleys southeast of Seattle. Screwed!!

Couldn’t agree more. The lessons learned from Katrina are the models that should have been learned, but unfortunately, stupidity and ignorance repeats itself In my opinion, and this is the oldest story in the world.

I'm a bit of a geology wonk; one of my many useless pursuits.  Your situation is similar to the Hawaiian islands, which are also along a fault.  Every once in a while, the earth says "fock it" and spews a bunch of lava up.  If you look at an undersea map of the Pacific, you'll see a series of islands going up and to the left towards Japan.

Also, relatedly, you live in the "Ring of Fire".  Good luck.  :(

You don’t have the best place on Earth without some magma plumes.

When the shet hits the fan I’m ready for my handout. Dont let the PNW down folks.

Oh and keep your mitts off our water 😂

Where do I start…you need some education and history of floods. You should start with this book. “ The Great Flood Of 1927” The first hundred pages are getting to know who’s who. Which is of importance. One learns a lot from this book. It’s not a right or left thing. It’s an accurately defined by our history of the Mississippi River, then and now. Enjoy.

The election is in over a month.  Everyone still alive will be able to go vote IMO.

Which makes the question to me which side will have more people die.  For NC in particular, hard to say, I’d say probably about a wash.  Asheville was the biggest city hit hard and is a lib stronghold, but other areas hit hard are not.  Libs would have been more likely to go somewhere else before the storm hit, but righties would know better how to handle it once it came.

Every state that’s not New York or California, or certain parts of Florida,  is a flyover state. Why deny it? We’re simply better than the rest of you, it’s not a political thing. It’s just culture. What little your savage minds have of it you get it from us. We are your rulers and we don’t come to you unless you have something to offer like a beach during winter time. Even Trump knows this. You think he’s moving to Nebraska?

Your teammates that whine about the electoral college dont want to hear this.

No, I did not offer the Red Cross and churches, I commented that they do a good job and will get in there earlier, filling the gap adequately until the feds get their act together......

Your trust and faith in government is misplaced, they are not the answer, but they are all we can rely on at the moment

FEMA leverages privates to do alot of their work, as most agencies do.  I chuckle when someone tries to say that private could never work, when most of the government agencies essentially run on and rely on private contractors to get their work done.

Must be a cloudy day at the beach and no Diddy parties on the VP schedule.  The Regime has finally decided to make a visit after being shamed by Trump’s humanitarian aid.

Katrina is nothing compared to the destruction this hurricane inflicted. Every house on the west coast of FL is damaged or now gone or garbage. That's just FL.

Areas in GA, NC, SC. TN wastelands. Downstream areas will flood soon as the water heads towards the ocean. There are not enough construction people to fix this disaster. if your home is a wreck, who knows how long it will take to repair. money will talk.
