Yeah buddy.   Big big test for the Lions, who seem to be falling off a bit.  Lots 9f injuries and GB is good

The Lions may be as depleted defensively as they have been in the past 5 years.  From that standpoint it is a good time for the Packers to get them.  I hope the Packers have a plan for containing Gibbs and for covering Laporta. Sometimes it feels to me that the Packers have not covered a tight end in three decades.

Fantasy is a huge money maker for the NFL and this is the last week of regular season, meanwhile no teams had byes last week

Next two games are the true test for these Lions.  Green Bay and the Bills at home.   These 2 games in my opinion will really tell the story on whether the Lions can truly get to and win the superbowl.

I don't care for byes this late.  It's the week before fantasy playoffs and there are some huge implications.  No byes last week, I get because of Thanksgiving and it'd rally cut the Sunday slate short.  But it doesn't feel real fair for some teams like Baltimore, Denver, etc. to get a bye this late to make a final playoff push.

This certainly looked like your year before the injuries on defense piled up.  As a Packer fan I feared Hutchinson and Anzalone the most and they are both out though I guess there is some hope for a return late in the playoffs, if they make it that far.  I fear Gibbs and St. Brown and LaPorta but in the Lions current state I have some hope for Thursday night.  Still the Lions have looked impressive most weeks and if healthy seem like the team to beat.  I guess I will be happy for their fans if they  win one.  Yours has been a long suffering fan base but a fan base which has hung in there regardless, time for some reward, maybe.  Also, I would get a kick out of it if the Lions get a Superbowl while the Vikings remain blanked in that game.  Good luck on the health front.  I know what it is to see promise fade due to injuries, and that really sucks.

Detroit has perhaps the best team in football when healthy.  I think key for them is getting 1 seed and playing inside the whole way through. Im sure they took the foot off the gas some but the first game against the Packers they scored 24 outside and 7 of which came off a terrible pick 6.  GB really shot themeleves in the foot that game.  Terrible drops.  Terrible pick 6.  

If GB could get Detroit outside in the playoffs I would feel more confident in this matchup.  Big game for each team.  GB still 2 behind with Vikings 1 ahead.  But Lions play the Bills next week.  On paper the Packers remaining schedule is easier.  But they also had a once tough game vs the 9ers coming up.  That could be a pushover for Detroit.

Packers in my opinion have same feel as last years second half team.  Which is capable of beating anyone but hard time seeing them win 3 games. Whilr running up at Philly or at Detroit once if not 2 times.   Love definitely does not have the stuff he had late last year.  But he is getting healthier.  I am hoping he can revert back to form to really close the gap on the top 2 teams.  As a whole the WR group hasnt progressed how I had imagined it would.  Actually seems with a year more of experience they have actually went backwards.  I like how the defense plays for the most part.  Hafley is a good coach.  The DL has to live up to what they are on paper.  Aaaand they have a NFL caliber kicker this year.

Don't take this personally, but the LAST team I want to lose to are the focking Packers.  Just keep producing quarterbacks.   Favre, Rodgers, now it looks like Love is legit.   God I hate the Packers.

Azeez Al-Shaair suspension, explained

Al-Shaair has been suspended three games "for repeated violations of rules intended to protect the health and safety of players and promote sportsmanship," the NFL said in an official release.

As noted above, Al-Shaair is considered to be a repeat offender of unsportsmanlike plays, contributing to his three-game suspension without pay. Al-Shaair is eligible to return to the field during Houston's regular-season finale in Week 18.

NFL Vice President of Football Operations Jon Runyan issued the suspension and had the following to say of Al-Shaair's hit on Lawrence:

During your game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on December 1, with 4:20 remaining in the second quarter, you were involved in a play that the League considers unacceptable and a serious violation of the playing rules. Video shows you striking the head/neck area of Jaguars' quarterback Trevor Lawrence after he clearly goes down for a feet-first slide…You led with your forearm and helmet and delivered a forceful blow to the head/neck area of your opponent when you had time and space to avoid such contact.

In addition to the hit on Lawrence, the NFL's announcement cited Al-Shaair's escalation of the on-field brawl and the removal of his helmet to reengage with Jaguars players before exiting the field as reasons for the ban.

Al-Shaair is appealing his three-game suspension, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Players are permitted to appeal League-imposed suspensions per the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Texans GM Nick Caserio did not hold back when he addressed the media about Al-Shaair's suspension.

A fiery Caserio cited other examples of punishments handed to other players, claiming there is "no consistency relative to the level of discipline that's been handed down." He went on to speak highly of Al-Shaair's character, calling parts of the NFL's statement "embarrassing" and "bulls—."

Tom Brady throat grab

In 2022, Al-Shaair put his hands on Tom Brady's throat during a game between the 49ers and Buccaneers. In response, Brady checked in with the officials to ask why the linebacker wasn't called for a penalty.

Roschon Johnson punch

In Week 2 of the 2024 season, Al-Shaair delivered a punch to the helmet of Bears RB Roschon Johnson at the end of a play on "Sunday Night Football." Officials did not see the punch and Al-Shaair was not penalized in the moment.

The punch came after Al-Shaair delivered a hard hit on Bears QB Caleb Williams, though it wasn't a head-to-head blow. He was later fined $11,000 for the punch, and Texans coach DeMeco Ryans told reporters, "we can’t throw punches," while defending the hit on Williams.

Trevor Lawrence hit, ejection

Al-Shaair was ejected Sunday after a devastating hit to Lawrence's head, knocking the Jaguars quarterback out of the game. Al-Shaair continued to fight with various Jaguars after the play, and was escorted off the field by security.

Lawrence has been diagnosed with a concussion from the hit, the Jaguars announced Sunday.

Following the game, Lawrence emerged from the locker room with his wife, Marissa, walking under his own power. Head coach Doug Pederson did not confirm nor deny whether Lawrence would play again this year, but he did mention he will enter concussion protocol. Lawrence made it home after the game and says that he is feeling better.

Good game.  Lions are goid even with injury.   They have 4 4th down tds in the 2 games.  Situational football propels them  above good teams.

Glad to have survived that game.  Jeez.   10 days to get ready for the best team in the AFC.  Hopefully we get some pieces back.
