jbycho 754 Posted January 20 Vrable to New England, now Ben Johnson is being reported by two stations is going to the Bears. Jacksonville and LV and Dallas and maybe another are left. McCarthy, and Monken and Carroll are still out there.
listen2me 23 1,873 Posted January 20 Carroll was successful and all. But a team would have to be desperate to go to him. Looks in great shape but hes what 73? What says rebuild like hiring a 73 year old? Kingsbury is making a case to be a hot name and I thought he would end up in Chicago. Didnt have a good record in AZ. But the team improved over his first 3 seasons. The 4th season was bad and then fired. Hes 45. So he was around 40 years old and it was his first taste of the NFL as a coach of any level. jbycho 754 Posted January 20 How's that Rooney rule working out? So far everyone knew the Pats wanted Vrable from the start but, New England has since interviewed Byron Leftwich, Pep Hamilton and then hired Vrable. The Bears wanted Johnson since day one yet interviewed a shiitload of coaches and then ended up with Johnson. Shocker huh? How are the black wannabe coaches not offended by this garbage? DEI sucks. Wastes people's time.
Drizzay 719 Posted January 20 I have no idea why Johnson would go to Chicago. Williams and him aren't a good fit.

But there is also a few guys making $$ off the Rooney rule as designated interviewees over the years
Maximum Overkill 1,988 Posted January 20 McCarthy should already have a job. It's amazing that he did what he did considering the disaster Jerrah created. Ben Johnson will be the prize. Chicago needs to go all in.

I was following the Bears hiring process and when they interviewed Carroll he said he would bring in an Assistant Head Coach to learn under him with the thought of him being in place to take over when Carroll retired. Let's see if he does that.
Maximum Overkill 1,988 Posted January 24 I'm shocked that McCarthy doesn't have a job. He's a better coach than most of these clowns. The Jets could of used him.

What an ass . I hope Dallas never wins another game.

Granted Mike McCarthy isn't the greatest coach but he's about the safest best option you could possibly hire. You know what you're getting at least.

Agree but I think he's there to be more of a Manager type. I can't imagine that he'll have much input on the offense or defensive schemes. I think it's more of a name thing. Kind of Green Bayesque.

WTF is that?

The same thing was talked about in Chicago if their assistant GM got a GM job with Tennessee. He was like a finalist with them for the GM job but didn't end up getting it. Dumbest, most condescending rule ever.

Detroit was Glenn's most recent stop but he'd had coaching jobs in lesser roles in New Orleans and Miami prior to his gig as DC in Detroit.

Gepetto 1,367 Posted January 25 Cowboys hire offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer as next head coach Published: Jan 24, 2025 at 09:51 PM nfl.com I'm out. No longer a fan of the Dallas Cowboys. I've been cheering for the Chiefs since I went to Mahomes first career home start. It was a great experience and met several Chiefs fans. Those are two guys we needed to keep.

He got lucky with the trade that brought him the team he had in the 90s. Outside of that he struggles to let other people take over and make the right decisions. Instead he makes dumb decisions based on past history and feelings. He let Dak hold him over a barrel to get 50 mil a year for a guy that continues to choke. Jerry's ego has and will prevent the Boys from winning another championship. Fortunately, he's 82 and won't be around much longer. Unfortunately, Stephen is waiting in the wings.
