J6 Pardons

Trump ends all January 6 cases with pardons, commutations and dismissals

From CNN’s Marshall Cohen

In one fell swoop, President Donald Trump ended all of the nearly 1,600 cases stemming from the January 6 US Capitol attack.

He signed a proclamation Monday pardoning nearly all 1,270 people convicted in the January 6 attack, directing the Justice Department to drop about 300 pending cases, and ordering the release of a small group of 14 other defendants who were charged in the most serious sedition cases. (Trump misspoke earlier tonight when he said the pardon would cover about 1,500 people.)

These actions go farther than many — including Trump’s own advisers and GOP allies — were expecting. Vice President JD Vance and House Speaker Mike Johnson said in recent days that Trump should only pardon nonviolent offenders.

But the proclamation he signed, granting a “full, complete and unconditional pardon,” covers roughly 600 people with felony convictions for assaulting police officers or impeding police during a riot.

Pardons for January 6 rioters: Trump on Monday pardoned US Capitol rioters, saying the pardon would cover more than 1,500 people, which would appear to cover nearly everyone charged since the attack on January 6, 2021. He also commuted the sentences of Oath Keepers and Proud Boys who were convicted of seditious conspiracy.

And people think this is the adults being in charge.  :shocking:

Elections have consequences. Next time don't push all your chips in on a retarded DEI candidate after you couldn't hide Bidens demensia any longer.

Oh wow. Looks like my friend Tommy is getting out of prison.  Didn’t think he would seeing as he put his hands on a cop. His sentence was way too harsh.

Reparations now!!

And retribution now.  Throw the book at the political hacks that abused power.  Biden knew they were guilty as fock which is why he pardoned so many of them.

I am not in favor of pardoning rioters.  If we insist that the liberal shock troops in BLM/antifa be held to account, then we should also insist these folks be held to account.

I do not like the pardons from either president.....

Sure.  If you want to spend 4 years in jail with or without a trial.

I bet he's trying to defer from 2020 liberal violence.

No. It’s not equal. Biden deserves major criticism for his pardons. Trump deserves major criticism for some of his pardons. Every President does.

But pardoning the Jan 6 rioters who committed violence (not the nonviolent ones), who attacked police- that’s unique. That’s beyond the pale, worse than any other Presidential Pardons in history. It’s unacceptable, there is no justifiable whataboutism, no reasonable excuse or explanation that can be offered.

You’re right my bad. But everything I wrote about pardons goes equal for commuting sentences. Unacceptable. They attacked the police. You don’t get to do that in a civil society. Ever.

I’m not, I agree with you. Both sides abused it, but Trump was far worse.
