nobody 2,557 Posted February 15 13 hours ago, jerryskids said: I would say that another "insider threat" is whatever Treasury bro is sending sensitive information to the Wired bros. It doesn't seem like anyone wants to stop it, though, since it keeps happening. Strictly speaking, every person who has access to the data is an insider threat. Literally, by definition. People are the biggest security risks. I'm sure though that the person's point is these people aren't properly vetted, but I'd bet the clearances most of these guys have require polygraphs, so I imagine they're more vetted than most. But, to your point, worrying about security isn't the actual point. Broadcasting the scary sounding term "insider threat" and attaching it to the doge team is obviously the goal. TrailGuy 552 Posted February 17 Elon Musk’s U.S. DOGE Service is seeking access to a heavily-guarded Internal Revenue Service system that includes detailed financial information about every taxpayer, business and nonprofit in the country, according to two people familiar with the activities, sparking alarm within the tax agency. Under pressure from the White House, the IRS is considering a memorandum of understanding that would give DOGE officials broad access to tax-agency systems, property and datasets. Among them is the Integrated Data Retrieval System, or IDRS, which enables tax agency employees to access IRS accounts — including personal identification numbers — and bank information. It also lets them enter and adjust transaction data and automatically generate notices, collection documents and other records. IDRS access is extremely limited — taxpayers who have had their information wrongfully disclosed or even inspected are entitled by law to monetary damages — and the request for DOGE access has raised deep concern within the IRS, according to three people familiar with internal agency deliberations who, like others in this report, spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss private conversations. https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2025/02/16/doge-irs-access-taxpayer-data/

I will be surprised. The Constitution vests certain powers to the legislative, to the executive, and to the judicial branch. These lower court judges were not given the ability to block the President, Treasury Secretary. and OMB Director and their auditor from accessing the Treasury but limit it to some leftover unelected and unappointed hack from the previous administration. TrailGuy 552 Posted February 17 The world’s richest man, Elon Musk, has vowed to oversee a radical hollowing out of government agencies, asserting this week that some should be “deleted entirely” as he defunds public programs and lays off federal workers. While the immense cuts are framed as a means of removing waste, they may also become a boon to private companies – including Musk’s own businesses – that the government increasingly relies on for many of its key initiatives. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2025/feb/16/elon-musk-doge-government-privatization I can't believe you are all dumb enough to think that that the world's richest man decided to make his third country of citizenship "more efficient" Nothing to do with his goal to be the first trillionaire. Fukking idiots. You look so stupid when you actually source your information. Quote Sources with an AllSides Media Bias Rating of Left display media bias in ways that strongly align with liberal, progressive, or left-wing thought and/or policy agendas. This is our most liberal rating on the political spectrum. Reviewers on the left, center, and right noted that there was much evidence of Left bias in The Guardian. The panel noted: Story choice was not just leaning left, but actively demonizes American conservatives/Republicans consistent sensational language Analysis of President Trump cabinet picks was clearly Left; it described Tulsi Gabbard in the following slanted way, while not including links to sources to back up the claims: "Gabbard, the proposed director of national intelligence, has been accused of having links to the Kremlin while spouting pro-Russian views – an allegation that could complicate her being cleared to oversee sensitive national secrets." Middle East coverage often has anti-Israel slant At the time of review, a new newsletter was titled, "Fighting Back: a pop-up newsletter on defending democracy under Trump"; The Guaridan is actively opposed to/biased against Trump The Guardian's Call to Action asking for donations was clearly against the right, reading, "This is what we're up against," with photos of figures like Elon Musk and others aligned with Trump looking sinister. "From Elon Musk to the Murdochs, billionaire owners control much of the information that reaches the public. Meanwhile, increasing numbers of bad actors are spreading disinformation that threatens democracy." Lots of sensationalism in stories about Trump, e.g. a piece that noted a "flurry of lawsuits" and actively tried to negatively polarize the reader against Washington Post when bringing up its nonendorsement of a 2024 presidential candidate.
