Trump caved again and went down to a 30% tax on China goods and China went down to a 10% tax on our goods.

So instead of empty shelves we now just have to pay 30% more?  Will China still buy from American farmers or have they been replaced?  What happened to bringing jobs back or replacing income tax with tariffs tax?  So many questions.

At the beginning of Trump's first term, US Tariffs on China were 3.1%. By the end of Trump's term US Tariffs on China were 19.3% where they remained during the Biden administration. China increased Tariffs on the US during the same time from  8.3% to 21.1%. 

Trump's second term. US Tariffs on China increase to 147%. China tariffs on US increase to 124%. 

Trump's new deal: US tariffs on China = 30% while China tariffs on US = 10%. 

Seems like another huge win for Trump and the United States.

You've got some errors in your post.  The first trump term did not have a 19.3% tariff across the board.  That might be the highest rate on targeted goods but not the average.

To put it more simply, trump raised tariffs to 145%, China retaliated.  Trump caved and lowered tariffs to 30% and got nothing in return.

But yeah huge win that we pay 30% more for Chinese goods and our farmers likely need to get a bail out.

To put it in context, your chart shows a ~20% rate of ~65% of goods, a 13% rate and even this seems a little high given some of the schedules.  Most economists had us under 10%.

I still don't see how this is a win.  What did we get?

This is great news and a huge relief. But 30% is still too high. And is 10% from China an improvement on what they had prior to Liberation Day? I can’t seem to get a clear answer on that, but it sure sounds like no. Which means there was no point to this entire endeavor. But at least it looks to be over.

Its not over.  This is a 90 day pause, nothing was achieved, trump can decide at any time he wants higher tariffs again, 30% across the board is still too high.

Because it minimizes the impact but keeps them at a level that incentivizes China to continue productive talks, with a 90 day deadline where the higher tariffs could be reinstated.   This really isn't that complicated.

It’s not that complicated because it makes no sense. If 30% tariffs incentivizes China (dubious but let’s accept the premise for now) then we didn’t need 145% tariffs, and all the shortages that have already started and are coming our way no matter what happens now. In addition if the purpose of the tariffs was to get China to lower theirs (which as yet hasn’t happened and is unclear if it ever will) then what about the goal to bring manufacturing back to the USA? You can’t have both. 
 

Occam’s Razor tells me that Trump started this whole mess because of a stupid belief in tariffs, it blew up in his face, and he’s backing off. That’s a relief but we’re supposed to congratulate him for it? Really?

We have open manufacturing.  We should incentivize more.  We should create a pro business climate to create more jobs.

We have a shortage of electricians, plumbers, auto mechanics, etc.  We need more trade people, not more jobs.  Ever try and find an electrician these days?

The problem is that wages haven't keep up with rising costs.  Housing is too expensive.  Taxes are too high.

Trump just agreed to a 30% tax hike with no jobs created.  And you magas wonder why the smart people aren't applauding with you.
