First off the ratings on every MSNBC show fell after the election, I suspect largely due to exhaustion. They’re starting to rise again. I doubt that Reid’s show was a particular problem for the network. 
 

Second: I have read the article you linked and other articles critical of Joy Reid. She is very provocative and over the top. She is, IMO, neither repugnant nor racist.

Thank you for agreeing with me on the ratings, which were not great prior to the election, but absolutely tanked after.  It appears, to my eyes, that the network is hoping to be purchased and is making moves to not get lowballed.

Joy Reid is a disgusting racist.  Note that I do not suggest she should be silenced, no, I think best response to repugnant speech such as she espoused is to let it show in the light of day.....and her removal is confirmation that evil does not win in the end.

I think that happened too after 2016 IIRC, but Comcast didn't make any drastic changes then and the ratings recovered.

Reid's would have too along with the rest of MSNBC's shows if they had not panicked and showed a little patience.

I just told you the reality that I’ve witnessed firsthand with my own eyes in an HR boardroom at a fortune 50 company.  I have seen at least three hiring decisions that were made or a black person was hired for a job - where they weren’t the best candidate - and where it was said out loud that the most important aspect of that particular hiring decision was to get a person of color in the role.

I’m sure what you witnessed was real. It was also anecdotal. Statistically the facts tell us otherwise: DEI is NOT bringing about incompetence in the corporate workplace nor has it helped much with diversity- Fortune 500s remain largely lily white and male dominated. Nor are white people being discriminated against in statistical numbers. 
Anyone can come up with anecdotes and shout “unfair!” I myself am opposed to DEI for this reason. But while people are NOT being discriminated against in our society and they’re NOT victims of racism.
