Today isn’t like yesterday.  All those studies incorporate immigration as a whole, across many years, and conflate legal with illegal. I don’t care what happened in the 1800’s or 1900’s.  It’s no longer applicable. Twenty years ago isn’t even applicable.

I just said today is way different and that study is going back to 2008. Have you spoken to ant public school teachers in a district with a lot of illegals? I do all the time. Here’s what’s happening: The teacher spends half their time on the ESL kids, and everyone gets passed through. That’s not fair. It’s immoral to tell a kid they have been educated when they haven’t.

It is a crime that the kids are not being educated properly, whatever the reason is. They know nothing. I work with the public sector and many times when speaking with an educational institution, I am amazed by their inability to hold a conversation.

And the solution is too dumb down the tests or to just get rid of them.  NY is getting rid of the regents exam. Having a NY state regents diploma once meant something. We have just given up on middle and lower class kids getting a quality education in places. And yes, overcrowded schools with illegals play a role. They divert resources.  They cost more. These are facts.

There was a local story in Detroit about a HS kid who got pulled over for tailgating.  When the cops started talking to him, they needed to get an interpreter.  Found out, yep, illegal.  Took him into ICE custody.   LOTS of locals clamoring for him to be released because he only had 2 months to go to get his high school diploma.

And he couldn't speak english

It’s all over.  Just passing them through.  You’ll have one district where kids have to go to summer school because they fail and then you’ll have another where they don’t have summer school. Why would they?

Never said there were no problems that can't be fixed.  The solution is not to deport everyone.  The solution is to educate and improve.

CA has completely changed their grading system to a system of "equity" and is no longer based on points. They try to test on what you've actually 'learned.' Which...not asure how that works if you're not testing the and giving them points. They are also eliminating the use of D or F grades. 

I have a friend who is a 3rd grade teacher and one who is also a school counselor for an elementary school here. And this is 100% correct. They have up to 32 kids in each class and most of the time is spent with the ESL children. Often times, they have to ask another student to translate for the one who knows no English at all, and they are moved up to the next grade. 

Schools get money for butts in seats, not actual results. You miss school or are late, they get less money.

Not if they are here illegally. If they are, here legally, how many are we talking about? Can’t be many. We can accommodate the ones here legally.  NYC had an influx of people from Puerto Rico and the DR that didn’t speak English. They didn’t throw out the whole system because of it back then.  If your kid didn’t pass, they didn’t graduate. Most of them got on board. There was no ESL jobs program for teachers
