Ron_Artest 1,053 Posted March 24 Fascinating article. Hegseth included an Atlantic reporter in the group chat about the Yemen attack. Would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad. This is what happens when you put an unqualified Fox News host in a position of power. https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2025/03/trump-administration-accidentally-texted-me-its-war-plans Quote The world found out shortly before 2 p.m. eastern time on March 15 that the United States was bombing Houthi targets across Yemen. I, however, knew two hours before the first bombs exploded that the attack might be coming. The reason I knew this is that Pete Hegseth, the secretary of defense, had texted me the war plan at 11:44 a.m. The plan included precise information about weapons packages, targets, and timing. This is going to require some explaining.

Engorgeous George 2,126 Posted March 24 Not good, if true. If true I will find out soon enough as a story like this will gain substantial traction, if true. Maybe hegseth should spend less time coiffing his hair, working on his pecs, and picking out socks and a bit more time checking his group address lists.

Sean Mooney 1,937 Posted March 24 Just a shocking display of idiocy from him. And if you read through the whole article the author does a great job of highlighting everything and how this all came about. Also, should be noted how Vance clearly went against Trump in the thread but they immediately tried to damage control it with the reporter.

As for women, I believe he has been accused of both ill manners and some criminal conduct, but only by less than a score of women so I believe a qualifier may be appropirate in your statement,or suggestion. Maybe it should read Pete Hegseth allegedly abused some women and sometimes drank beyond his capacity to hold his liquor. Not something I would list on a resume, but it is part of his bio. Maybe he should have a T-shirt made saying I have abused less women than Donald Tyrump, unless unacted upon intent counts.

Ron_Artest 1,053 Posted March 24 Vance saying that Trump isn't aware of what he's doing Quote The Vance account then goes on to make a noteworthy statement, considering that the vice president has not deviated publicly from Trump’s position on virtually any issue. “I am not sure the president is aware how inconsistent this is with his message on Europe right now. There’s a further risk that we see a moderate to severe spike in oil prices. I am willing to support the consensus of the team and keep these concerns to myself. But there is a strong argument for delaying this a month, doing the messaging work on why this matters, seeing where the economy is, etc.”

The Real timschochet 6,413 Posted March 24 Look this was a stupid mistake, but that’s all it apparently was: a stupid mistake. Now I personally think Hegseth is an incompetent fool but that’s based on my understanding of his decision- making, not on his inability to avoid screwing up who gets invited to a conference call. Much like the Hillary emails this is a process story and not especially interesting, IMO.

Well, this stupid mistake may very well be a violation of the Espionage Act, since it was discussing sensitive military information in a commercial, unsecured chat group. Along with the VP and several other high ranking officials. It ain't just Hegseth who looks like a complete imbecile here. 1

Ron_Artest 1,053 Posted March 24 At 11:44 a.m., the account labeled “Pete Hegseth” posted in Signal a “TEAM UPDATE.” I will not quote from this update, or from certain other subsequent texts. The information contained in them, if they had been read by an adversary of the United States, could conceivably have been used to harm American military and intelligence personnel, particularly in the broader Middle East, Central Command’s area of responsibility. What I will say, in order to illustrate the shocking recklessness of this Signal conversation, is that the Hegseth post contained operational details of forthcoming strikes on Yemen, including information about targets, weapons the U.S. would be deploying, and attack sequencing.
