The idea that you "can't prove a negative" is a common misconception, it's actually possible to prove a negative, especially in specific contexts like formal logic and mathematics, or by demonstrating the absence of something within a defined scope. 

What you mean to say is that the burden of proof is on the party that makes the claim, whether the claim easy to disprove or impossible. But in this case a bunch of us were witness to it and that is very compelling proof on its own.
