Fishing/hunting and the dads would cook and drink all night playing cards. They were very drunk by sleepy time. Got us the next morning and we went fishing and shooting. Of course the only way to travel in the swamp is by boat. Eleven foot outboards aluminum. I was sitting up front whilst cool pop was driving. He sped towards the bank and couldn’t stop it. We hit the bank and I flew about seven feet. Laughing I look up to make sure he’s ok, and what am I a.foot away from? A water moccasin that was shedding its skin. I froze. At best it should be described as partially or mostly surrounded by swamp, but it is not as if it is an island. Granted, escapees, if any, would be fairly easy to locate if they tried to run out along whatever roadway there is, but they would have that option.
