She said he groomed her?  Wut?  He was 22 years old and she was 17.  At what point are women going to take responsibility for their own actions?  

That's as far as I got before I stopped reading. If there was an actual physical assault then that's not great, but doesn't she bear any responsibility for putting herself in that situation?  With all of the laws and PSAs and services that we provide women over the last 40 or 50 years, haven't they learned anything at all?

Meh.  No one is saying men should rape women or have rights to their body, but the "he groomed me" statements we always hear in these type of college situations is usually code for "I partied hard last night and regret it", which is what we usually hear when it turns out the allegations are false or have been greatly exaggerated.

The dude was 22, not 52.  The age gap was not one of those "he groomed me" type of situations.  Certainly hold him responsible if there is more to it, but seems like some very flimsy stories.

Sounds like you are aware of your surroundings and circumstances.  Sounds like you are vigilant.  It is a shame you have to be vigilant, but it is well that you are.  The young woman, Jane, in the story, was the opposite of vigilant.  She felt the warning signs yet she agreed to meet the male alone, at night, in private areas.  She reminds me of Desiree Washington who went to Mike Tyson's room late at night, after drinking, and then was surprised, she says, that he was criminally sexually aggressive.  I don't ascribe the majority of blame to a victim, but I am aware that some victims could have, and should have been more aware.  That said, as far as criminal culpability, screw this guy.

Men need to take some responsibility in this and if that means avoiding drunk girls, young girls, or just girls that are questionable then MEN need to do that.

There is nothing in Jane's story about "feeling the warning signs" in fact she talks about the exact opposite, how he made her feel comfortable, up to the point her raped her.  I'm sure you're not suggesting that all women should assume men are all rapists but that is what you're implying.  Vigilance is good, but we as men need to stop raping women and hold each other accountable to treat women with dignity and respect.  Going down the "she was asking for it" slope does the opposite.

At the MOST, 10% of those cases are false, and that's being generous.

According to the article, there was enough evidence of sexual harassment, assault and theft to open an investigation.

I’ll give him innocent until proven guilty on the rape allegation, but he’s also accused of:

-Using the PSU athletic facilities to meet with underage girls

-Theft from multiple teammates, one of which (a former NCAA finalist and all-around standup dude) who filed a report with University police

-Taking nonconsensual explicit photos of teammates and sharing in a group Snapchat

-“constantly” grabbing guys’ genitals during practices
