Well, the consciousness transfer into a synthetic body was a bit much for me, which is a shame since it’s such a huge element of the story. Regardless, I liked it and I think I’m gonna really like where it is going. ETA: The synth guy Morrow is kinda dumb with that welder in his fingertips. Is he a Terminator or something? Really really want to watch it too but I’ve now gotten to the point where I’m too impatient to wait until next week and the week after. I want my entire cake NOW. So I will wait until the series is complete and then binge.
Frozenbeernuts 2,292 Posted August 13 I'm not a fan of the first episode. I won't be watching any more.

I set up a recording and recorded the two episodes from last night and will watch them over the weekend to decide if I want to continue. I'm a big Olyphant fan, and as others have noted a fan of the first couple of Alien films, so hoping it's good.

I felt the same with the body transfer thing. I didn't hate it, but it kind of took me a few to try and figure out what was going on, but I also wasn't 100% paying attention. Lurch and I were kind of talking during the show, so we will have to watch again to make sure we caught everything. Didn't watch Ep 2 yet. It took me a minute to recognize Timothy Oliphant. We were both like, "Is that...??" And yup.

Takes the saga in a direction it doesn’t need to go. I guess they’re trying to push the envelope, but it’s needless. And then there’s Morrow the superbot. That doesn’t jive because the tech in this series is far more advanced than in Alien. And in Aliens, as well.

I'll finish the series, but, it's pretty stupid. Consciousness transfer idea or execution? I like the idea because they are trying to cover all their bases - cyborg, synth, and hybrid. Hybrid is what Ted Williams is/was hoping for right? It may not be that much more sci-fi than AI. But the execution is horrible. Send in your child brain hybrids into that situation? Then the other stupid stuff like Wendy getting her sword, which will be important later on, from the paper cutter? You're a trillionaire Corp in charge of a large part of the planet...splurge for a real Katana for christ sake. Rescue team don't carry ropes so the skinny guy has to jump the stairwell, wtf? All the cartoon flashbacks, ugh. Building is about to fall down but the elevators work. Party still going on, lol. Rescue team tells the party goers to exit using the elevator, ugh. I'm sure the brother will be just fine even though the Alien that just ripped up a dozen people in under 10 seconds grabbed him.

MDC 7,652 Posted August 24 Watched the first three episodes and really liked it. The look, feel, soundtrack etc. all very close to the movie series. I can see some complaints that the focus is heavily on AI and synths, but I enjoyed the backdrop. Will continue.
zsasz 377 Posted August 24 I was put off at first because it kind of ignores both Prometheus and Covenant; particuarly David's involvement in the evolution of the Xenomorph. I liked both of those movies and thought David was a great villain. But the show runner made the point that for pretty much the entire run of the franchise; the Alien has been described a a near perfect organism that's been refined over millions of years....and he's right. His take is that he's not contradicting Prometheus or Covenant...but he's also not embracing them. I'm fine with that...not everything needs to be tied up in a bow.
