Steak: To Sauce Or Not

Steak: To Sauce Or Not

  1. 1. Does sauce belong on steak?

    • Hells no! A properly cooked steak with a little seasoning such as salt and pepper don't need no sauce!
    • Steak without sauce is like a day without sunshine! Sauce it up, b!tches!

I hadn’t weighed in on this.

I eat meat, prefer no sauce.

That post was from a different thread.  @Horseman made a stupid comment assuming you eat tofu and not meat.

If it’s New York or higher quality you don’t need sauce. Just butter.  If you get your steak at sizzler or chilis sauce it up

Horseman buys his steaks out of the back of a freezer truck in a parking lot. I could see why that needs a ton of sauce

Horseman doesn't buy steaks. His team of servants buys them for him because this is how he would prefer to spend his money so that he can spend more time here bragging about how rich he is.

Rusty started the thread and you expected something interesting and intelligent?

I too don't like name brand sauce. I look for local that balance sweet with heat, or make my own for BBQ. I even go Carolina mustard sauce for pulled pork. If you're from Texas and want to say good BBQ doesn't need sauce that's a fine argument to have. But saying it about upscale steak when the sauce is specially made and optionl to compliment the dish, like you said, is ridiculous.

Have you ever tried Pat's Ho-Made BBQ Sauce? It's pretty good.

On a quality steak I dont care for anything other than maybe some roasted garlic butter.

If say a drunk buddy cooks steaks for poker night and they turn out to be not very good... then I dont mind using A1 if its there.

I am fond of caramelized onions.  If I do a ribeye at home, I usually do up some onions to throw on it.

Filets sorta suck.  You almost have to doll those up.  Seems like its been a long time since I ordered a filet.  And even longer since I did one at home.

There are 5 cows on the back half of my property right this second.

But I understand your weakling need to make stuff up when I own so much of your head-space.  You're weak.

I don’t care for glue, so no filet mignon.

I grilled filet mignons and lobster tails tonight. Melted butter for both, and A-1 mixed with ketchup for the mignons. The flavor of mignon is just not my favorite if not sauced up.

Perhaps you shouldn't have your wife buy them at the Dollar Tree while you feverishly stalk people on the Internet and brag about how rich and retired you are to a small group of people who couldn't care less on a low-rent, lightly trafficked message board.

If you can scrap a million bucks together you might be considered rich.

Speaking of which, when are you gonna pay up?

You can season a steak pre-grilling,  you can't sauce it up. That's criminal. If your steak needs "sauce" then you either have a terribly cooked steak or a cheap cut. A good cut that's perfectly cooked needs absolutely nothing.

If you need sauce eat a hamburger instead. Why waste your money?
