Tree of Knowledge 2,025 Posted September 8 Miami has really fallen apart and McDaniel’s schtick has lost its appeal. Probably fired before Halloween.

Hardcore troubadour 15,702 Posted September 8 While Jacksonville was hiring Cohen and Chicago Johnson, Mara decided to stick it out with Daboll because he wanted to get it right. It’s all about him. Someone said something about ownership being a clown show? He’s a sober Jerry Jones.

WhiteWonder 2,857 Posted September 8 McDaniel topping the list makes sense. I think Daboll would be a bad bet at those odds. The Giants regime should have been fired after last season. If I were a Giants fan, I would be disgusted with the organization probably more so than any time in recent history. But Mara seemed to state that he was tired of turning things over every few years and now they just drafted their franchise QB. I think it's fair to expect the team to be better this year but I also feel like the length of the leash was somewhat reset. If they fire Daboll now, you might as well rebrand yourself as Woody and the Jets.
HellToupee 2,003 Posted September 8 Zac Taylor is a horrible coach but won’t be fired . Miami looks like a shite show. Dabol might be able to save himself with Dart

Way too many have no idea what they are doing and are cheap focks. The real reason they keep coaches that suck is to not have to pay them to fire them

The real reason they keep coaches that suck is to not have to pay them to fire them eh, I don't know about that as far as the Giants and Daboll. It's not like his contract is fully guaranteed. He makes 5-6 million annually. I can't imagine long time owners of a franchise that has seen success would make that kind of decision based on such a low amount (low in the grand scheme of football)

TBayXXXVII 2,614 Posted September 8 2 hours ago, HellToupee said: Dabol might be able to save himself with Dart This I don't understand. If ownership is on the fence with the FO and coaching staff... why let them sign a re-tread starter and then draft a 1st rd QB that you needed to give up multiple early picks for? Ownership should've said, "Look, what you guys have been doing the last 3 years isn't working. Win this year or you're out." Then, don't sign off on trading up to get Dart. The only reason to allow them to trade up to get Dart, is that ownership believes in them and that they're ok for this year and next. Or, they're stupid... which is reasonable. TBayXXXVII 2,614 Posted September 8 Some of these odds don't make sense. Gannon took over a team that won 4 games and won 4 in his first year, then won 8 last year. Both his offense and defense improved from Y1 to Y2. Yeah, Steichen was in on drafting Richardson, who is a bust... but even with a bust, they won 8 games last year. Daniels isn't a good QB, but he doesn't suck. In that division, 10 wins is possible. Dave Canales didn't draft Bryce Young. After benching him last year, he was a MUCH better player than before hand. Canales took over a 2-win team and won 5 games last year. I don't see how he gets 2 years (or less). Brian Callahan took over a dead end team. They just gave him the green light to draft a QB #1 overall. They have to know that this season will be iffy. I mean, if they go 2-15, maybe, but anything over 5 wins should guarantee him another season and chance to upgrade the roster. There's a 0% chance of Morris or Bowles getting fired. Heck, Bowles literally just got an extension. Both teams will likely have a winning record.

You aren’t figuring in the X factor to a lot of coaches getting fired , the scapegoat or fall guy. It’s a tale as old as time

It’s a tale as old as time Oh, I get that and why I think Stefanski is on that list. Canales though, doesn't fit. Why would he be a scapegoat after just 2 (or less) seasons? Morgan wasn't the GM who brought in Young, but he was in the F.O. It's not like the Panthers were all that good in those 2 prior years, and after their rookie season, Stroud was clearly the better option, so it's not even like Morgan can say, "the QB I was in on drafting has been the better player".
