What's with all the conservatives cancelling people?

Remember when there was a frenzy of firing people after Floyd? Digging up  old comments ? Liberals loved it.

I'll say it: VIOLENT RHETORIC SHOULD STOP.

Zero issues with a company firing someone based on something heinous they said online, regardless of subject matter. Those companies have every right to do so.

Now, if a rank-and-file government worker was fired for something similar, that would be a big problem.

It's still true: you have the freedom to say whatever stupid, twisted, hateful bullshit you want. And everyone else has the same freedom to call you out for acting like a POS.

I agree to an extent.  The problem is that there needs to be a distinction on where the/a line is.  If a random person or government employee is walking around with a MAGA shirt or Guys for Kamala, nothing should happen to either... but we know that's not what happened.  If a random person or government employee, condones violence, they need to be fired.

My X timeline is filled with two things. Liberals celebrating the murder of Charlie, and Conservatives celebrating them getting fired.

I know liberals and conservatives are different sides of the same coin, but dang. I thought conservatives were against people losing their jobs when it came to free speech? I've heard countless conservatives say so long as you're not on the job, in uniform, or trying to represent your corporation, what you do and say (so long as it's not illegal) is not your company's business.

Did they forget so soon what happened to their voices?

I do not like this one bit.

You know what?  You’re right.

As hard as it is to watch these sad and morally corrupt people dance on a grave….saying things clearly untrue because of ignorance….watching the nose ring weirdo pedos rejoice.

You are technically correct.

With that said, it’d be nice to know if one of one of my kids teachers was that crazy. Or the doctor about to operate on a loved one who happened to have a Christian cross on his neck. Crazy to think but….damn. This is where we are.

Dude, if you really think there are doctors out there that would maliciously treat someone wearing a religious symbol around their neck, I don't know what to tell you. Is it impossible? No, in the same way winning the lottery and getting struck by lightning aren't impossible. Will it happen to you? No. It won't.

Doctors, believe it or not, actually WANT to properly treat ALL of their patients. It is a point of pride, and most doctors I know have a healthy enough ego that their own self opinion would be enough to prevent behavior like what you're hinting at. Never mind the fact that most doctors are, decent humans that have devoted their lives to treating sick patients and would never be willing to consider throwing away their careers over something so dumb.

Texas Tech student expelled after video showing Charlie Kirk rant on campus | FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth https://share.google/4x8rcJzRKAhUrEGLc

Student expelled from University for practicing first amendment on college campus, the very thing Kirk was famous for.  Somehow I think he would object.

  • "The student, Camryn Giselle Booker, was arrested and charged with assault in connection with the incident."

The Dixie Chicks canceled themselves—they’re still performing under the moniker “The Chicks” because they deemed themselves racist for choosing that name.

They were canceled in like 2003 when they made comments about George W. Bush as President

When has there ever been free speech?  People have always faced consequences for stuff they say as long as I can remember.

How were they cancelled like they weren’t allowed to play anywhere? Cite examples.

I'm just stating what the poster was referring to when they said what they did. But the story goes:

- Lead singer Natalie Maines made a comment about being ashamed the President was from Texas and they didn't support the war. She did this in London.

- After that, the song they had on radio at the time (a pretty good cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide" went from 10 to 43 and off the chart a week later. Stations just stopped playing it.

- 42 radio stations run by Cumulus Media were not allowed to play music by the Dixie Chicks per a company edict. 2 DJs who played their music at a Colorado station were suspended. An Alabama radio station dropped all Dixie Chicks songs after fielding complaints all day long.

- Louisana protestors destroyed Dixie Chicks CDs and merchandise. A Kansas City station put trash cans outside their offices and encouraged people to throw away Dixie Chicks stuff.

- Lipton cancelled a contract with them

- To all of this George Bush said:

Quote

"The Dixie Chicks are free to speak their mind. They can say what they want to say ... They shouldn't have their feelings hurt just because some people don't want to buy their records when they speak out ... Freedom is a two-way street ... I don't really care what the Dixie Chicks said. I want to do what I think is right for the American people, and if some singers or Hollywood stars feel like speaking out, that's fine. That's the great thing about America."

Contrast that with the BS that Trump spewed.

- As late as 2006 radio stations were still refusing to play Dixie Chicks songs. And the Chicks basically had to leave country music behind.

The “cancelled” then you are referring to is people not buying their albums and going to their concerts. Oh the horror. You canceled Charlie Kirk by assimilating him. We are not the same.

So let's recap....you were given an example, cited the wrong incident. I corrected it. You asked for evidence so I gave it to you- including work to actually ban their music from stations....and your "counter" is they killed Charlie Kirk.

I mean, you picked up the goalposts, walked a thousand miles with them, and then set them back down....

The Dixie Chicks weren't cancelled. They're still touring. What example will you use next, French fries? I just had those yesterday.
