What's with all the conservatives cancelling people?

The Dixie Chicks weren't cancelled. They're still touring. What example will you use next, French fries? I just had those yesterday.

You are being intentionally dopey right? You asked for specific examples and tried to winnow it into one particular thing even when shown that yes- there were areas they were "cancelled" according to the definitions that I've been told many times here by posters.

“Oh my God. We just said something awful about a person the overwhelming majority of our customers voted for while we were touring overseas and now they don’t want to listen to our music. But then a couple of years later we won Grammys for song and album of the year. The horror!”

When you have to go back 22 years for the examples of righties doing what lefties were doing last year, that’s your clue as to where the problem has been.

I'm just stating what the poster was referring to when they said what they did. But the story goes:

- Lead singer Natalie Maines made a comment about being ashamed the President was from Texas and they didn't support the war. She did this in London.

- After that, the song they had on radio at the time (a pretty good cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide" went from 10 to 43 and off the chart a week later. Stations just stopped playing it.

- 42 radio stations run by Cumulus Media were not allowed to play music by the Dixie Chicks per a company edict. 2 DJs who played their music at a Colorado station were suspended. An Alabama radio station dropped all Dixie Chicks songs after fielding complaints all day long.

- Louisana protestors destroyed Dixie Chicks CDs and merchandise. A Kansas City station put trash cans outside their offices and encouraged people to throw away Dixie Chicks stuff.

- Lipton cancelled a contract with them

- To all of this George Bush said:

Contrast that with the BS that Trump spewed.

- As late as 2006 radio stations were still refusing to play Dixie Chicks songs. And the Chicks basically had to leave country music behind.

Radio stations aren’t free to play what they want?

Haha. I love this trend of giving them their own medicine. This is exactly the kind of stupid stuff they would retort with.

22 years? What's happening today?

I find a lot of @Cdub100's opinions and beliefs abhorrent, but I'll give him a ton of credit for intellectual consistency and calling this BS out. This has eclipsed "cancellation." The VP is threatening to bring the full force of the US government to bear on people that disagree with him politically. That's not canceling. That's authoritarianism.

Cdub is probably the most genuine guy here, have to give him credit for that.  He's shared all his crypto ups and downs, is a tried and true conservative and is unashamed in all of his believes no matter how vile they might be to some people.

The Dixie chicks canceled themselves. They don’t even go by that. Besides, that wasn’t MAGA.  🤪

So let's recap....you were given an example, cited the wrong incident. I corrected it. You asked for evidence so I gave it to you- including work to actually ban their music from stations....and your "counter" is they killed Charlie Kirk.

I mean, you picked up the goalposts, walked a thousand miles with them, and then set them back down....

that is why i went with stfu, knew that turd would just cry about something else

It's amusing at this point that he is now arguing me about a point I never made. I was literally just trying to fill in a blank for him considering he got the event wrong.

He’s genuine but I don’t believe he’s a conservative. His viewpoint about Jews is inconsistent with core conservative values.

Some people are being fired for saying “Charlie Kirk dead? Awesome! Let’s have more of this!” I’m good with that, I think we all should be good with such a response being condemned.

However, some people are being fired for saying, “Charlie Kirk dead? Nobody deserves to be murdered, but this was not a good dude, he said some terrible offensive things, and himself encouraged or defended political violence against others”, etc. I’m not good with this person being fired. That’s not a “celebration”.

The wapo editor was fired for posting Kirk's quote about black women being dumb.  That's insane.

It seems like anything that is not praise is considered a "celebration"

Not to mention he has no proof that "righties" had anything to do with the Dixie Chicks.  Back then there wasn't such a chasm between the two sides.  However, in Country Music I suspect even "lefties" are more right than the typical lefty, more so back then.  What was stupid was the Dixie Chicks not knowing their audience and p*ssing on them when they didn't want to be p*ssed on.  What idiot that makes their living by catering to rednecks in pickup trucks thinks it's smart to say what they did to THAT audience?

sean mooney provided a list. Rs cancelled the Dixie Chicks. there wasn't such a chasm, but Rs couldn't handle how terrible Bush was. he put us in a stupid war based on lies and the Dixie Chicks called him out on that.

You know how it works. Liberals ALWAYS accuse normals of what the liberals themselves do. And they do it aggressively. Non stop.

Wasn't it Liberals that took down statues and painted over murals? Cancel culture one would say.

Trying to silence a PRESIDENT and his supporters by KILLING them seems like cancel culture as well, does it not?

@Sean Mooney

Billions in damage and deaths and destruction in the 2020 liberal riots, then they come up with "INSURRECTION!!!" for the selfie fest. And they still can't let it go.

The “cancelled” then you are referring to is people not buying their albums and going to their concerts. Oh the horror. You canceled Charlie Kirk by assimilating him. We are not the same.

I’ll ask you the same thing I asked Strike and @jonnyutah

Other than

-he didn’t like Charlie Kirk

-he might not have liked fascists

-he might have been gay, or probably less likely, dating a tranny

what is the evidence that Tyler Robinson is a leftist?

I think you guys might have head injuries. In 2003 there wasn't a divide between the two sides? Okay.

Furthermore, all I did was point out the actual scenario where canceling was accused because the dipsh!t had the wrong time. Then he asked for an example and I gave him a clear example of a corporate company banning their stations from playing the music. That didn't count because they didn't have holes in their necks from a rifle. That's an insane argument being presented back to me when I was literally just providing info.
