Stupid.  There wasn't anything comedic about his comments.

The MAGA comments were not funny and unnecessary, but I thought the Trump interview where he talked about the ballroom was funny.

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel began.

Well, it was a lie, but government should stay out of it.  Carson & Leno were smart enough to stay out of politics during their shows.  Thinking this was a just good excuse to fire him.  When you alienate 1/2 the country your cutting your own throat as a business decision.

Was it a lie?  Because we have a whole thread here where all the magas did exactly that.

We don’t like it in principle but

1. Libs have been doing it for years so turnaround is fair.
2. There’s no pattern of bad behavior by Trump. This may have been a bad move but overall he’s not threatening our freedoms.

This seems to be the main arguments being made here. And they’re flawed. They’re flawed because government is involved this time, and the only time government was involved when Dems were in charge was for public health reasons which is acceptable. This isn’t. So no libs have not been doing this for years.

And it’s flawed because Trump is not making a mistake here. This is part of a larger scheme to destroy his opposition and you guys are refusing to acknowledge this.

Also this is not the first time he's done this.  He did it with skydance, he refused to have the FCC approve the deal unless they paid him off and fired Colbert.  He's done it with colleges, threatening them so he can say who get admitted or what they teach.  Law firms, sued if they don't give free work to conservatives.  WSJ lawsuit, NYT lawsuit.  He did it with intel, threatened to fire the CEO or pay him 15% of their revenue.  He's illegally extending the tiktok ban so he can get a deal in place that benefits him.  He took $2B from UAE for chips.  Took a plane from Qatar.  Threatened Lisa Cook, they were lies.

All he's done is act like a mob boss, extorting people for personal gain.

Wake up people, fock.

No, it's not.  The word misinformation is just a fancy word for "Information WE DECIDE you shouldn't know."  There is no such thing as misinformation.  There is information.  It's up to the individual to decide what is good information and what is bad information.  The way smart people with decent critical thinking skills get fooled is when some information is suppressed so they can't fully research the issue, which is what the government tried to do with Covid.

This argument is not simply wrong it is dangerous, and if it’s widespread it’s going to costs lives as it did during Covid.

There’s more than likely going to be another pandemic. It is more than likely going to be worse than Covid. When it occurs we need to follow the advise and restrictions made by our public health authorities, even the ones made purely out of caution. Otherwise people are going to die. And when this happens conspiratorial misinformation must be suppressed. Sorry but public health is one of the few concerns that in certain cases can supersede free speech.

Who cares if they are funny TBH.

A couple issues at play Trump wants these people off the air because they oppose him - it’s extra funny and so on brand for this puss that they are just hacky talk show hosts doing lame jokes and interviewing movie people and he’s such a little baby he can’t take it.

Second it’s comedy. Comedians should get a wide berth. The conservatives whined and cried about this claimed they didn’t do it when they have an history of it and now just proving it again with this.

Maybe. But I know which ones will get attention for it and which won't (if any ever do). How about we investigate the ones with funky financials and prosecute where necessary? Dems, Reps, Indies, the whole lot of em.

I'm all for it.  Let's run for president and vice president.  Let's investigate all 535 of them.  We'll just go alphabetically down the list.  Let's find out who has LLC's and what's tied to them.  Let's find out who has off-shore accounts... let's find out which of those accounts are in non extradition countries.  Let's find out how their stock portfolios line up with market trends.  Let's go back 25 years.  Fock'em.  I'll put every one of them in federal prison... even the presidents.

No we don't.  They destroyed their credibility and I for one will never blindly follow their guidance again.  You, being the Lemming you are, will follow them off a cliff.

What was false about them?

”MAGA tried to characterize the shooter as anything other than one of them.”

Fact check: true.  IANAL but IMO there’s no legal argument here.  Edit: Well unless you argue that MAGA wasn’t arguing he was “anything other,” they were pretty much only arguing that he was a leftist.

Come on.  Everyone knows what he meant.  Why wouldn't you say, "characterize as left wing," if that's what you meant.

By saying that maga was "desperate" to characterize the shooter as "other than them," especially in that patronizing and condemning intonation, the implication is that the shooter was indeed one of them.  Any non-robot would interpret it that way.

But in the end, it doesn't matter.  He could've came out and said, "why did maga kill Kirk?"  Government is grossly overstepping by threatening FCC action over it.

By Mar 19, 2021, the White House had designated 12 people as reporters for Twitter’s Partner Support Portal, which allows for expedited flagging of content for censorship.

Implication, yes.  Lie, no. So then it’s fair to interpret Kirk’s many statements that had clear implications in a similar manner, correct?

ABC doesn't have an inalienable right to broadcast on public airwaves. I can't fire up an antenna and say whatever I want. I would go to jail. They made a deal with the public for access to our airwaves. Now they have to abide by the terms of the deal. 🤷‍♂️

Not true.  They suppressed Hunter laptop story too.

And while I don't buy ivermectin is effective against covid, by like week 10 we knew it was old and fat people who were vulnerable to covid and they pushed a narrative that anyone who stepped outside was at risk and then they used it to push BS about how the vaccine would keep you from getting covid which was bs.

The crowd that says "free speech enthusiasts are awful quiet now."

They would 100% welcome a society where anything but consensus liberal doctrine was banned.

Covid came from a lab in Wuhan.

Charlie Kirk deserved to die.

One statement is fact. The other is opinion.

Liberals believe the factual statement should get you banned from society, but the opinion is completely fine. This is the logic we are fighting againt.

ETA: repeal of the fairness doctrine does, in fact mean that these stations can be unpaid DNC shills. But not supporting dear leader is not the same as being a DNC shill.

The left is fine with Christians are stupid. Why is that? I am not saying you are, but you have to admit it is much more OK to the typical liberal to insult Christians than any other group that isn't predominantly white.

Fox is a junk network owned by the same people who spew all the far left crap. They do have more common sense because they are required to have a more conservative take.

Kimmel is a pedophile. Who cares what people are doing with his words? He should have been sent to prison long ago.

I guess.  I mean it's two words.  Was he speaking specifically about stupid Muslims?  Or was he saying all Muslims are stupid?

I mean I'm sure there a plenty of stupid muslims out there.  Lord knows I know a ton of stupid Christians after all.

I wonder why liberals don't see the correlation between wisdom (age) and becoming more conservative.

Even the wacky liberal from my youth, Bill Maher, is more conservative now.

100% chance Kirk's words were taken out of context.
