What’s crazy, is why is lowa listed above Alabama? And why is Alabama ranked last on the op list?

Alabama should be shown between IL and KS if this is to be shown in order from most to least.. The AL amount is correct.

How's that odd? Liberal states are the most inflated. Aren't you the one who's always complaining about prices???? Don't be a fraud

"People are leaving Northern states for places with a lower cost of living, particularly in the Southeast, due to factors like high housing costs, taxes, and job losses in traditional industries, while also seeking out better job opportunities and a better overall quality of life".

You must be forgetting the sales tax, or lack thereof, in NH.

  • According to the Tax Foundation, New Hampshire's effective property tax rate was 1.41% in 2023.
  • Data from Realtor.com indicates New Hampshire has the second-highest median property tax amount in the country, at $7,715 per year.
  • The effective property tax rate is the amount paid as a percentage of the property's owner-occupied housing value.

NV and TX have also experienced the CA increase in prices too. It's what happened in CA when Bay Area folks sold their 3 million dollar home and bought a $500k house in Sac Valley.

Yeah, I know NH property taxes are high. I was really referring to living "close to" NH, as you said. It's worth living close to NH, like I do, to have convenient tax free shopping.

My daughter and SIL just bought a house in southern NH. Going forward, we just might have our online purchases delivered there to avoid the sales tax.

So white people are much less violent and completely more civil.

Why are they the most inflated?

If you want to afford to raise a family, living in a blue state is a bad idea, according to a new report from CNBC.

The five most expensive states for a family of four to live in are solidly Democratic, the report found. You can thank Democratic politicians in Massachusetts, Hawaii, Connecticut, New York, and California for making life unaffordable for people.

While liberals in the federal government contributed to the problem by exacerbating inflation with wasteful spending, state and local governments also needlessly make life more expensive for their constituents.

Each of the 10 states with the highest average state and local tax burden in the country has a Democratic-controlled state legislature, while New York and Hawaii top the list, according to WalletHub. When you let people keep more of the money they make, they won’t need to make as much to survive.

However, taxing people at high rates doesn’t guarantee they will receive worthwhile services in return. New York City, for example, provides migrants with prepaid debit cards and, like Massachusetts, puts them up in long-term hotel and motel stays on the taxpayers’ dime.

While states such as Florida crack down on illegal immigrant spending, cutting spending on illegal immigrants using Medicaid in about half in the past year, California began offering free health insurance to many illegal immigrants starting this year. People will have less money to pay for their health insurance if they’re paying for illegal immigrants’ healthcare with both their tax dollars and premiums, as publicly funded healthcare offers lousy reimbursement rates, forcing private insurers to pay more to keep hospitals in business.

Being magnets for illegal immigration — by providing illegal immigrants with driver’s licenses, in-state tuition, and jobs with no E-Verify requirement — also drives up housing demand. In certain liberal states, such as Massachusetts and Hawaii, communities have strict zoning laws that prevent anyone from building new housing to keep up with rising demand. That’s why a one-bedroom apartment in the Boston metro area is typically over $2,000 per month, while a one-bedroom apartment in the city averages about $3,000.

This doesn’t explain why homes are so expensive in all these blue places. If anything this seems like it would hurt prices. Yet It’s like many people want to live there or something.

Maybe they have more difficulty getting loans but I see a lot of people making no money leveraged on cars, on CC’s, etc.

In a case when a house goes up in my hood, it sells immediately. Areas that are desirable to live in have in general had been that way for a long time, and will continue to be.
