The Real timschochet 7,203 Posted Thursday at 07:48 PM The Democrats continue to be such idiots. So politically inept. I have predicted over and over that there will be blue wave in 2026 but the Dems could also blow it. They’re so bad at this. The latest is this political shutdown. The Dems are absolutely right from their perspective that the Republican budget is horrendous. Trump refuses to negotiate. Trump says if they go through with the shutdown he’ll start firing people left and right. The Democrat base is demanding that they better not give in an inch. The public won’t care about the issues involved. As always they will blame the party that instigated the shutdown. They will blame the Dems. Part of this is because the Democrats are led by Chuck Schumer and Hakan Jeffries who are, let’s be honest, wussies. They look weak and they are weak. The most likely result is 3 weeks of shutdown and the Dems will cave. And look worse than before. This is not the battle you want. Dems should agree to the budget and look towards 2026. They actually, really don't care one bit about the people they pretend to. Their ONLY objective is to create victims in this country so that there will always be a class of people to fight for (even though they never actually fight... they just yell and scream). Again, another reason why this is the worst political party the planet has ever seen.

squistion 2,380 Posted Thursday at 09:55 PM https://x.com/krassenstein/status/1971018603710304512 Trump has reportedly instructed federal agencies to prepare to MASS fire employees if there is a government shutdown. Basically, he is claiming that he doesn’t want a government shutdown while planning to massively fire people if we do have a government shut down. Voltaire 5,406 Posted Thursday at 11:39 PM The Dems don’t have any leverage. The GOP has the votes to roll them -and do. Whatever they do seems unlikely to work. It’s likely best for them to take the punches and attack the GOP for any perceived overreach. I think letting the GOP win on trannies in women’s spaces to both let sanity prevail and take the massive club tha is that issue off the table would make sense. Instead they are going all in on it and primarying Scott Evil… er … Seth Moulton.

It’s likely best for them to take the punches and attack the GOP for any perceived overreach. In the old days this would be the correct approach. In this situation however, we have like a third of the country that refuses to believe that anything this admin does could ever be construed as overreach. Literally everything is justified. Just read through the posts celebrating the righteous power grab. I've always thought gov't shutdowns were stupid. I still do. But I cannot think of a better reason for it than what their reason is: preserving healthcare for US citizens (assuming they're being honest about it ). This country is already fuct. Shut it down, let Trump fire everybody, stage an epic game of chicken between these supremely awful parties. Let it burn. Maybe the public will finally wake up and vote all the bastards out. The Real timschochet 7,203 Posted yesterday at 01:00 AM I listened to Chuck Schumer on Meet the Press this morning. He is so weak, so awful, so unconvincing. I get the argument being made by @Fnord and others. I really do. This shutdown is the only way for Democrats to defy Trump for at least another year. I get the desire to “let it all burn down”. Except that won’t happen. Because with Schumer the Democrats just don’t have the leadership to carry this fight through to the end. What will happen instead is that shutdown will start, Trump will start firing people, and Schumer will cave after a few weeks. It’s entirely predictable. Conservatives will cheer Trump, independents will blame the Democrats, and the Democratic base will be infuriated and start primarying anyone who goes along with Schumer which will jeopardize next years elections. It’s entirely predictable.

thegeneral 3,449 Posted yesterday at 01:09 AM I haven’t followed this at all. Why can’t the Republicans get what they want again? Super majority in the Senate? They always pass something at the last minute so am just assuming this will be the same. Last one of these was because Dems had the numbers and Trump shot himself in the foot IIRC

Until then, the two closest we have to leaders is Schumer and Hakim Jeffries. Which is like currently having Jake Browning and Carson Wentz as your quarterbacks. It’s not preferred.
