Election Night 2025

Recommended Posts

So here’s what I think is going to happen Tuesday night. (Keep in mind that my political predictions are right about 80% of the time. My sports predictions not so much.)

1. Prop. 50 in California, which will give the state about 5 more Democratic leaning Congressional districts, will win easily, perhaps over 60%.

2. The Democratic nominee for governor in Virginia will win easily. She will carry the Democratic candidate for attorney general over the top though that will be closer.

3. The Democratic nominee for governor in New Jersey will win by an easier margin than is currently projected- perhaps 5-8%. Just as important in terms of long term projections, a significant number of Latino voters in New Jersey who abandoned the Democratic Party in 2024 for Donald Trump will return to the fold.

4. Mamdani will win by the largest margin of all. 70% or higher is possible.

In other words, Democratic victories everywhere. This is not however any kind of sign that the Democratic Party is healthy or popular- it’s not. The public by and large can’t stand the Democratic Party and truthfully they have good reasons. That’s not going away. But Tuesday night, and I believe a year from now as well, Democrats are going to win big because the public is rejecting Donald Trump.

It will be if Democrats recognize why he won- not because of his socialism or criticism of Israel, but because he focused on the number one concern of almost all Americans: high prices.

I will be so glad when the election is over…  Tired of the commercials, texts, snail mail, etc…

I love NYC. This whole idea that this electorate voted for Giuliani & Bloomberg for 5 (!) terms yet is also socialist is absurd. I think there will be some stay at homes, third party protest votes for Sliwa, & generally nudging back to Cuomo in the ballot box. I think Mamdani will win but not by the sort of wipeout you have here.

Also I have no idea why Republicans can’t run serious candidates in NYC anymore. All that Wall Street, Soho & Central Park wealth & no one will stand up? Odd.

Well Trump said the other day that nobody’s ever seen the amount of popularity he has had after 10 months of being President. Turns out he’s right,

Yup, every year.

With the gov race in NJ, we get mailings every day.  My son and I get Republican stuff and my daughters get Democrats stuff.  Wife gets nothing as an independent which is probably a mistake by both sides.

One thing about Mamdani that might be getting missed but should be noted for Dems if it works - his campaign has been positive, bright, poppy, energetic, engaged. It’s good fundamental retail politics.

My anecdote about this election…my good buddy who lives in Brooklyn who doesn’t really pay attention but does have a good job, owns his own townhome, has a kid, wife works, pays the big taxes there said that Mamdani’s messaging and campaign has made Cuomo look pretty amateur.

I saw some debate highlights (maybe they were curated by Mandami people, saw various clips on social media) made Cuomo look like a total chump.

This is why the Republican efforts to paint him as some sort of evil villain who loves Communism and Hamas isn’t working. If you’ve ever listened to an interview he comes across as a down to Earth pretty decent guy.

Actually I’m not excited about Jones. I predict he will win but there’s no excitement there. If I lived there I think I would abstain on voting for him.

If you’re going to accuse me of such an awful thing as voting for someone who wishes for the death of children, you’ll have to come up with some examples. (And that might be difficult because I’m having trouble coming up with an example on either side.)

you obviously understand the point he was making and I am sure you are familiar with exaggeration for effect.

are these the types of predictions you made in 2024 before you made that post admitting you'd have trouble trusting your biased media again?

70% for Mamdani?  I'm guessing more like 55%.  He's got the young vote, because they're, well, pretty dumb, have no life experience, and love the hopey changey 5th grade student council no homework message of Mamdani.  Mamdani also has the Muslim vote and foreign-born voters.

He'll get enough of the older vote to win.  But I expect a lot of people to stand in front of their ballot and say, "hmm, do I want to put the financial capital of the world in the hands of a 31 year old Democratic Socialist who has never managed a shift at McDonalds let alone held a real job?"  :dunno:

I did understand the point he was making. But the accusation is dumb and pretty offensive regardless.

I was pretty bitter after last year’s election. I wrote some things about the media I shouldn’t have. Deep down I don’t believe the mainstream media is biased. But they made some mistakes for sure and I behaved like it was deliberate. I acted like a petulant child. In short I behaved like a conservative. Conservatives are the ones who always blame the media when real life doesn’t go the way they want. I succumbed to that weakness for a short time; I will try not to do so again.

The MSM always agrees with you, so you have no reason to question their bias.

NYC literally just had 2 kangaroo court decisions against a Republican, because they knew they'd win... and you have to ask this question?  LOL

And they just had 2 Republicans/ex-Republicans win 5 terms prior to DiBlasio, plus Adams who’s a Fox favorite (& Trump pardonee). Sliwa has won the nomination running two times in a row now. I actually like Sliwa, but for some reason Republicans wont support him.

You know very well that this isn’t being done by “Republicans”, it’s extremist wackos who are most likely right-wing. Don’t behave like @HellToupee would if it was left-wing wackos.

They are Republicans.  Extreme wacko republicans.

HellToupee says that anyone liberal supports Hamas.  I'm not saying that everyone here called in bomb threats.

I am probably going to be wrong in my projection that Mamdani will win 70% or so of the vote. That race appears to be tightening a little though he should still win pretty easily.

Bloomberg was a lifelong Democrat (whom everyone in NYC knew), but ran as a Republican because the Democrat party was pushing for Green.  For his next run, Bloomberg switched to "Independent" after his re-election, then ran as a Democrat his 3rd time.  He was always a Democrat and his policies show that.  Since 1974, the only "true" Republican that NYC elected was Giuliani.  Funny thing about Bloomberg's run vs Herman Badillo in the 2001 "Republican" primaries is that... Badillo was previously in the House of Rep's as a Democrat.  Giuliani was an anomaly.
