I have no issue with this. In fact, I would support it being 21 instead of 18. Children have no business undergoing gender-altering procedures, although MAGAs have hypercatastrophized what amounts to 0.1 percent of adolescents undergoing gender-affirming care.

Seems like Congress has bigger legislative fish to fry, but perhaps this will dull the MAGA obsession over trans people.

I know you don’t respond to me but I had to comment on this post anyhow because it’s so ignorant and so emblematic of conservative attitudes these days. You ignore the science. Ignore the American Pyschological Association and all of the doctors, medical boards, who have almost unanimously offered evidence on this issue. Sure there are always outliers and my friend here @jerryskids is eager to bring them up, but they are few and far between and basically considered kooks by the medical community.

What this basically comes down to is that you and so many other conservatives are grossed out. That’s the bottom line and it informs all your thinking.

You are absolutely correct, there are plenty of horrible parents out there. Some of the worst are those that remove their kids from public school and opt for homeschooling. Levels of abuse and neglect (not to mention irreparable harm to their future) stemming from that one decision dwarf anything going on re: transgenders. Are you okay making the argument that parents should not have the right to homeschool their kids?

I am opposed to any surgery unless absolutely necessary. But I’m not gonna impose that belief on others.

I’d much rather see doctors come up with guidelines and have them enforced… than to see this decided by attention-seeking politicians looking to score points by being anti-woke.

Agreed there are some bad parents out there that make terrible decisions for their kids but it's still the parents job and not the governments job.

Kinda related, Australia recently banned social media for kids.  Social media for kids is highly destructive, a million times more than this tranny BS, but is it really the govt's job or the parent's job.  And even with the law, it's up to the parents to enforce it.

Bottom line is the same people that cry about parent's rights when it comes to their children now want the govt to step in and take away those rights when they don't agree with them.  Hypocrites.

Also, the argument that some people will be terrible parents is a great argument to keep abortion legal.

If somebody wants an abortion? They probably aren’t super interested in raising that kid. So… we’re gonna force them to? Makes no sense to me.

Not grossed out by it at all...as an adult live however you want to live.  There have always been cross-dressers and others challenging gender norms...no problem with that.  And as an adult if they want to pursue mutilating themselves then have at it...but it should not be done with children.  Beyond the very small percentage that are truly gender dysphoric this is clearly a social contagion aligned with autism and children should not be allowed the make permanent changes to themselves until they are developed enough to do so.
