TBayXXXVII 2,699 Posted 9 hours ago Are they wrong though? Doesn't the NFL say that if you're making a catch in the process of going to the ground, you have to maintain possession throughout the play? Well, Cooks didn't do that.

I thought all changes of possession were automatically replayed. I still don't think they change it. Like I said, they've hammered in everyone's head, that if you're going to the ground in the process of making a catch, you need to maintain possession throughout. Cooks didn't do that. They even say that you need to "make a football move". What move did he make? He went to the ground. There was no "football move".
Hardcore troubadour 16,282 Posted 9 hours ago It looks like to me he had possession when his knee hit the ground. The defender took it after that. 1

No understanding of the rules. Best part is that it was a turnover, which is supposed to be automatically reviewed… and it wasn’t.

I remember that. The only saving grace for Teams like the Bucs and Giants is they have won. I’m not gonna deny the Giants caught some breaks But it sucks worse for fans of the Bills that are still looking for one.

Best part is that it was a turnover, which is supposed to be automatically reviewed… and it wasn’t. I said it should've been reviewed. But, in the NFL rules, what I said in the post you quoted, is there. It's letter "c": "c) after (a) and (b) have been fulfilled, clearly performs any act common to the game (e.g., extend the ball forward, take an additional step, tuck the ball away and turn upfield, or avoid or ward off an opponent), or he maintains control of the ball long enough to do so." Cooks didn't do that.

Otherwise let’s move on with the game

listen2me 23 1,978 Posted 8 hours ago As I said in the other thread after....doesnt have to be a catch. But just go back and watch Worthy "catch" the ball vs the Bills last year. Just google worthy catch vs bills. You cant pay refs to look at slow mo replays and come to 2 different conclusions on those. Its not a subjective call. We need the league and refs to understand what they call a catch before fans and players.
Strike 6,166 Posted 8 hours ago 2 minutes ago, Thornton Melon said: That was a pick. I don't know why there's any controversy over this Yep. It was the football equivalent of Thunderdome - "Two man enter, one man leave" and Denver left with the ball.

I'm a huge Bears fan and can admit that it was a catch.

Yes. But if we are paying refs or some dork in NY to review plays in slow mo and come up with 2 different calls... Then its not a fan or player problem not understanding the rules. The league clearly doesnt know what a catch is. Point is you cant have 2 different calls fotlr the same stuff, especially when you are focking looking at a review. Thats a football move yet a guy can drop a ball after 2 steps and they call in incomplete not a fumble?
