So...a public library near hear, has put out a prominent book display on differing views on sexuality -- Transgenders and Gays.

 

Most everyone is leaving comments like this:

 

"So in February when they post something about black history month is everyone going to get upset then? Are there going to be books other than Malcom X or about MLK? Books that oppose equality? Books that are in support of slavery and segregation? Basically that's why these people are mad, because there's nothing to "refute" this lifestyle being promoted.

What a joke. They are books. Many books piss people off. Harry Potter series, Fahrenheit 451, Animal Farm, the Bible, the Quran, the Fifty Shades series, the Grapes of Wrath, and the list goes on. Don't like it, then don't read it."

Sounds like the legislators don't have much to do, they seem to "find" things to complain about now. Too bad that can't focus on more important items, other than if a library is displaying some books. I commend the library for doing what they did. Old news, moving on....

So i am agreeing with them. 100% agreeing. (not really, but that is what my post says). Even though I am agreeing with them....I bet ....someone who is promoting "getting along" and "tolerance" and "accepting of others views"....will all of the sudden be "Hmmm. How do I approach this?" OR....OR.....they will be against the "anti" gay and anti transgender but be against a different alternative lifestyle--because it doesn't match their agenda. So these folks all play the part of "Be accepting and tolerant" until push comes to shove.

They care...its just that those that support gay and transgenders, don't know what to say. They know what they want to say, but if they say it, they will be called out, and be called by the exact same names and references that are calling others that don't accept their thoughts and views.

but let me add that these folks don't argue for it because it is legal. They could...yes...I get that. And I respect your viewpoints on pretty much everything you've written on this board They do it because they (say) they respect people's choices. In this instance, they won't argue against it because it's "illegal", but they will argue because it's immoral in their eyes.

 

Sort of like pro-marijauana people are for it, even though its illegal.

I respect people's right to choose to do things so long as they are legal and don't infringe on other people.

 

If you wanted to say that you are all for transgendered people, but you don't feel like celebrating it, I think you might get further with your point. It seems like we have too many people looking to celebrate being different and not enough celebrating making our society better. Different <> better.

Because it has merit that it might be the next step along the way. (See my 2nd post in this thread). There are legitimate sources (not some guy in his mom's basement) that are discussing that these folks are fringe now, but will be pushing for equal rights.

IMO, that's the same place society was in the 1960s, 70s, 80s. Its just now, it doesn't take 30 years to gain traction.

 

 

And although I disagree with the gay's lifestyle....I don't go out gay bashing or counter protesting.

My problem is...when they dance around in the streets waving signs. To me...they are pushing...then I push back (and so do a lot of others). Just do your thing, on your own time, don't push it on others and its all good.
