stonewall 647 Posted August 1, 2014 No argument about Graham being the consensus #1 TE. However, for those wanting a premier TE in the early-ish rounds of a redraft, then the choice is between Gronk and Thomas. Both have a high ceiling. Thomas is not as polished, but has Manning tossing the rock, and Decker gone. Gronk is a beast (if fully healthy) who Brady loves to toss the rock to in the red zone. Any thoughts? PackYourNut 47 Posted August 1, 2014 Assuming everyone is healthy, I would take Gronk over Graham and Thomas... The stats back that up too... Of course that is a huge assumption...
Kent 228 Posted August 1, 2014 Gronk is the new Danny Amendola. Can't draft him. So Julius.
ralphster 274 Posted August 1, 2014 Even healthy I don't know if Gronk beasts like he used to. NE is a very different team this year - evolving into a more power running game than in years past. Thomas for sure imo.

tanatastic 2,061 Posted August 1, 2014 Draft value and health considered, id say Thomas edges out Gronk by a hair. I still prefer the pitta, witten tier tho.
dehaven123 31 Posted August 1, 2014 this yr, thomas. long term, id still take gronk.
vrabinec 19 Posted August 1, 2014 I think this year Thomas will have a huge year. Decker's gone, Sanders isn't that good, Latimer's a rookie, and Welker's got concussion problems. He's gonna put up better numbers than last year. Gronk's a mystery. No way to tell how the long layoff affected him. I have to see him in games before I can guess. The injuries he had may take him back a step, and they may not. Anybody who says they know for sure one way or the other is full of crap.
weepaws 2,460 Posted August 1, 2014 Gronk is number two right now on my list then J Thomas
BufordT 371 Posted August 1, 2014 Julius Thomas averaged 4rec/48yds over his last 9 games last year. He was able to eke out 6 td's over that span, though. If you don't take Graham early, just wait on a TE and build a solid team everywhere else and hope you get lucky on a TE late. Kinda like Julius last year. rholio 339 Posted August 1, 2014 Between those two, I'll pass and get Jordan Cameron as the 5-6th TE taken.

Rather than chasing last years stats we should always try to draft the NEXT (insert breakout here).
ralphster 274 Posted August 2, 2014 Olsen, Rudolph and Pitta all 8th rounders. No reason to jump early when elite RB and WR options are scarce.
kutulu 1,545 Posted August 2, 2014 couldn't decide so I took em both
MDC 5,891 Posted August 2, 2014 I won't spend the premium 3-5 round pick on either of these 2. Gronk is always hurt. Julius was alway hurt before last year. My goal is Jordan Reed 3-4 rounds later plus Ladarius Green as a late round sleeper. TE is not a position where is expect to go Top 3 this year.

Blount is gone, Ridley is consistently in the doghouse and while they are high on White, he seems to be more in the Vereen mold. I think if Gronk is on the field the passing game will funnel through him
