too much talent 0 Posted April 2, 2006 I posted this topic last year. Maybe some of you that were arguing with me last year will see my point after his latest actions and remarks. When Javon Walker was considering holding out, Favre decided to voice his unwanted opinion where it wasn't welcome and say that Green Bay should not pay Walker the money. Favre just wanted Walker to be available for what was looking like Favre's last season. (Selfish) Favre had absolutely no right to comment on another player's contract negotiations. He cost Javon Walker millions of dollars last year, and Walker sustained a very serious injury. Now Walker may never be the same. Now Favre is screwing over Green Bay. Green Bay is going to be totally screwed this season because of Favre. Favre could care less. Earlier this week, when answering a question regarding his decision to return Favre said, "What are they going to do, cut me?" Wow! Thanks for the Millions Green Bay. But I don't give a ###### about you or the franchise anymore. It's all about me. Pretty Sweet! Green Bay should have traded Favre 2 years ago when he was worth something. Now GB is letting Favre ruin the team. Favre doesn't even help Aaron Rogers with learning the QB position. Farve told the media last year that, "It's not my job." Forget about what Favre has done in the past. Favre is not a good person. I am a fan of Great players who are great people. Favre is neither. I will only remember Favre for screwing over Javon Walker and screwing over the franchise. Oh, and all the interceptions that he threw. I hope he comes back for one more year, so I can bet against him every game.
G3-175SE 0 Posted April 2, 2006 I was greatly surprised at his comments. Up to this point I thought Favre was a class guy but if this is his attitude then Green Bay should ask him to retire. He obviously has little interest in the team. Somehow he has learned to spell team with an i.
Voltaire 5,305 Posted April 2, 2006 Player holdouts are pretty stupid and I don't blame Favre for the Javon Walker thing. It's not his fault Walker has no brain and only one knee. This holdout thing, on the other hand, is so, so, so old. And his latest "What are they going to do? Cut me?" comments do come off making him look like an ass. He may want that as an excuse for him to try to go to another place for one last shot, but contending places where he can help take a team over the top have (San Diego, maybe Baltimore) all need to move on too. The team missed the March FA signing period because they don't know how much money he'll tie up this year. You'd think he'd show more class, respec0,t and appreciation to the organization. Bigunreal1 0 Posted April 2, 2006 Sooner or later, someone in the jock-sniffing media is going to criticize this jerk. Just wait. It might happen. Possibly. Someday. Before he decides whether or not to retire for the 100th time. Brett Favre=no class.

G3-175SE 0 Posted April 2, 2006 Greatest of ALLTIME. Until this year I thought of him as one of the best, not one of the greatest with the right attitude. Now I don't. He is acting like a jerk. It is all about him not the team.
wild_and_crazy_guy 5 Posted April 2, 2006 Greatest of ALLTIME. No doubt, Brett Favre is one of the greatest QB's of all time. And the best thing is, he is still at the peak of his game!! What a joke! Out of respect, the Packers should let Brett Favre grace the world with his decision to stay or retire - when he's good and ready, of course. Then they should sit his a$$ on the bench when the season opens.

Do you really think his comments mattered to management? It really doesn't matter if Favre comes back or not. They drafted A. Rogers last year to take over; he will do that this year or next. How do you know Favre won't help Rodgers, do you attend practice? Rodgers has said Favre is very helpful. All Favre said was the same thing Steve McNair said, his job is not to train a new QB but to be the starting QB. I'm as sick of the retirement as anyone but it only matters between Favre and GB Management, as fans we don't always get what we want. I really don't care if he comes back or not, but to lay all that crap on him is ignorant. How important do you think he is? If Favre retires, they have Aaron Rodgers and who else? Obviously this is gonna sound like a made up story, but my cousin's friend said that he saw Brett somewhere, asked for his autograph and he didn't budge. Some people would be flattered, but not Favre...he's above everybody, right? How about all the guys who go out of their way to make people happy? Brett Favre is a great football player and is the most exciting player to watch in football (imo), but after this, not giving a damn about the organization and coming off as cocky after he just led his football team to a crappy season, really should just stfu and make his decision. After all these years, you'd think the man would show some respect.
BumForHire 0 Posted April 2, 2006 It seems oh so painfully obvious that Favre is twisting and turning over this retirement issue because he realizes this is just not a good team that he'd be returning too, and they could very well lose double digit games again, and breaking the all-time passing TD record just may not be worth it. Because no matter how you slice it and dice it, Favre is too old to lead this or any team to a title, and I think even he knows that. Records are all he's playing for at this point. I don't like how he's been dragging this thing out, and it definitely hurts the team in some ways. But it really doesnt matter. He'll come back, get the record this year, retire, and we'll never have to worry the guy playing again.....

Fair enough and truth be told, I wish he'd make his mind up on coming back as well but there is nothing we can do about it other than patiently wait for his decision. Favre has been very fortunate that throughout his career, he has only had 1 losing year excluding his days in Atlanta. Look how many good QB's went through some losing years: Elway, Marino, etc. Nobody likes to lose but you gotta deal with those things at a certain point in a career. In this day and age, going to the playoffs every year is almost impossible to do.

Sho Nuff 720 Posted April 3, 2006 He cost Javon Walker millions of dollars last year, and Walker sustained a very serious injury. Should not need to say much more than that little smilie...but his is complete and utter BS...he cost Javon nothing...Javon did it all to himself. Favre doesn't even help Aaron Rogers with learning the QB position. Farve told the media last year that, "It's not my job." This has been addressed time and time again...but the way that was made out was BS then...was called BS then...and later... But do not take my word for it...listen to Aaron Rodgers instead... “I’m picking his brain constantly in practice or on the sideline or in between series,” Rodgers said. “He’s been very helpful. It’s been a lot of fun getting to know him and getting to watch him up close and personal.” I didn’t expect Brett to give me any special favors or anything. I just wanted him to be him. And he’s definitely done that. Any time I’ve had a question, I’ve approached him, and he’s been quick to help me out,” he said. “He’s even been quick to say, ‘Hey, rook, what were you thinking?’ or ‘You should have done this.’ I just eat it up and write it all down. I’m just soaking it in. I’ve just got a great opportunity here to come in and learn from one of the greatest quarterbacks, if not the greatest quarterback, of all time.” Rodgers has latched on to Favre. On this Monday night, he follows Favre around on the sideline like a little brother trying to impress his older sibling. “I look at him more like a big brother. He’s always trying to tease me about certain things, and I’m always trying to keep up with him constantly,” Rodgers said. “And I’m trying to beat him in little competitions we have in practice. Honestly — and Brett will love to read this — it hasn’t really happened. He’s still working me in practice.” http://www.profootballweekly.com/PFW/NFL/N...eubauer2021.htm Nice try though. Sho Nuff 720 Posted April 3, 2006 OK, Rodgers gets hurt week 2, who is your QB. Every team needs at least 2 capable starters, Packers have none if Favre retires. I assume you are a Packer fan???? Who is the 3rd stringer right now? Is right now the season? Do you need 3rd and 4th string QBs in April? You do realize there is a draft coming...as well as more free agency...more cuts...tons of things that will happen before camp even starts.
Voltaire 5,305 Posted April 3, 2006 You know Barry Sanders was just as much an icon in Detroit as Brett Favre is in Green Bay. When Sanders retired from the Lions, he did it just before training camp. The Lions had no opportunity to pursue any free agents or to consider RBs in the draft. He just surpised everybody by refusing to show up. And we were p*ssed. I still have a really hard time forgiving him. It seems to me that Favre is going that route. birdbrain3X 0 Posted April 3, 2006 I'll agree that Favre had no business getting publicly involved in Walker's contract dispute. That is a definite code breaker but Drew Rosenhaus is to blame not Favre. Rosenhaus has wrecked many players careers in the last 2 years. As far as the retirement issue goes it's the Packers fault for allowing Favre to string them along. I doubt the old 49ers brass who cut Montana and Rice would put up with this. Larry David 20 Posted April 3, 2006 Brett needs to be assured that the Packers will have a competetive team before he decides to come back. Jeremy 0 Posted April 3, 2006 He cost Javon Walker millions of dollars last year, and Walker sustained a very serious injury. Now Walker may never be the same. Obviously you're fishing here. Favre did not cost Walker any money last year and you know it. The Packers were not going to give him a new contract last year. Everyone knows the Packer's policy on that. Farve told the media last year that, "It's not my job." yeah, imagine farve helping out rodgers... "ok, if no one's open within two seconds just throw it towards the free safety and see what happens!" it would screw the kid up for good if he hadn't already been stuck playing for a bunch of hipppies for two years! farve needs to stick around for one more year because there's a lot of poor cornerbacks in detroit, chicago, and minneapolis that need to turn their careers around! A lot of quarterbacks have won super bowls. For a lot of years, he's almost singlehandedly kept them a playoff team.
